We have an ongoing thread in the members section currently. A group of us are putting together a gathering for all the members local to WI., Minn., And Illinois, as well as anyone else that may want to show up.

Currently it seems the date has been set for Oct. 8th and the tenetive location will be at a members house in Colby WI., which is just west of Wausau on highway 29.

The point of the gathering is a meet and greet and to start laying a foundation for a chevelle club in Wi. We currently have no chevelle clubs here, so the time is perfect to start one.

You certainly don't need to bring a chevelle to attend this gathering, just a love of the car that seems to be our common bond. Details are in the works now and I will keep everyone updated as to the final details as they form.

If you are interested in attending, please let us know. The earlier the better. We currently have members from the appleton, green bay area, madison area, and Minn. coming so if you need to hitch a ride or follow along let us know. Their are nice hotels in town, so if you need to stay over night that can be accomidated easily as well.

So come on folks, come to our get together, and be a part of forming your own chevelle club, the first one here in Wi. If you have been part of car clubs before and didn't care for certain things, heres your chance to change that. Come voice your opinion on the club.

Please let us know if you are coming, Thanks

Colby is located about 2 1/2 - 3 hours north of madison. You can take highway 39 north from madison and pretty much get there. It would be 39 north to 29 west to Colby. Colby is just a short drive from Wausau. Just about dead middle of the state. We do have some members coming from madison that you may be able to either hitch a ride or follow along with.

Tony, I drive through wausau on my way to my house in Iron county from the Illinois border (I90) it will take you approx. 4 hours to get there (depending on how fast you drive obviously.) The speed limit is mostly 65 MPH. Wausau is nearly 2 hours from my home in WI, and it takes me 6 hours from Huntley IL to get there usually at 70-75 MPH. Jason.

I would like to invite everyone that is interested in the wisconsin chevelle club to our meeting. Great chance to meet eachother and discuss the foundation of the club. We will be meeting in Colby. Located just 35 min. west of Wausau and about 60 min. east of Eau Claire. Intersection of Hwy29 and 13. I will post a detailed map on the site here if enough people need it. Just ask. I also have a link here of a couple of pics of my place that has plenty of room for the chevelles that make it. Lots of pics can be taken for the rest of Team Chevelle to see what we are doing up here in Gods Country!!!!

We are planning an all day Sat. gathering. The details will be coming soon. Please consider joining us and let us know your intentions asap.

Thanks,

Right now I think we're planning on coming your way... If you find out any information on hotels, I would appreciate. 3 hours isn't that far, but all in one day is a bit much. Let me know if you need anything!

I did a search with some software at work. The only 2 hotels my computer came up with within a 10 mile radius of Colby, are located in Curtiss and Abbotsford. I hope the program just doesn't have a few in its database, because that's pretty sad... Anyway...

Their info is:

Curtiss Hotel
813 Meridian St
Curtiss, WI 54422
Tel: (715) 223-3590

Home Motel
412 N 4th St
Abbotsford, WI 54405
Tel: (715) 223-6343

I can get you a map if needed.

I wish the "club" were a little more centralized in the state, but then again, it looks like Gutz has a beautiful home and lots of space to do it in. It's very kind of him and his family to offer.

Wish I could come!

Mark ~ I agree 100%! I realize there are Chevelle owners all over the state, so I'm hoping this can be a meeting to jump start the process and we can go from there... Any chance you'll make it? I know you're plenty busy right now! :waving:

Not really... that's a week before my wedding IN WAUSAU. We'll probably have plenty of final preparations to make. This summer has been pretty much shot in the arse as far as cruising and the Chevelle have been concerned. Kinda sad, but I'm already looking ahead to next year...

I have a couple of hotel/motels withing a 2 mile radius of my home. First is Sleep Inn, 300 Elderberry Rd. Abbotsford 54405 #715-223-3337. The other is Abby Inn, located on Business 29. 715-223-3332 The first one has a pool and whirlpool and is the nicer of the two. We do have other smaller hotels but I would recommend these first. I will call them today and set up a reduced group rate for those interested. Remember that Colby (home of Colby Cheese) is a pretty small community and we are the sister city of Abbotsford.

My address is N13857 Colonial Ave. Colby Wi 54421 You can look it up on and print a map if needed.

Patrick

My cell # is 715-897-1597. Please call me with any ?'s and also to let me know if your planning on coming. I do need to get a count. This Monday the 12th and Fri. the 16th I will be available all day. Otherwise usually after 4-5pm I can be reached.

I will have to check into a couple of things next week, but it looks like were in. There better be some beer left when we get there as it looks like 280 miles one way from here. :beers:

not sure if this is going to work.... there have only been a couple of people that said they can make it. i dont know if driving from 150-300 miles away to find out they are one of a few that made it. so far the only ones coming are the ones that have commited in the post. no phone calls or emails from anyone else. are we still up for the meeting? i am more than willing but i have not been able to really set up anything due to lack of numbers. we have to prepare for shelter, food and drinks. we are having a local firefighters fall dance/party on the evening of the 8th. in town. that is something we could crash. well, let me know what you think. a decision should be made as soon as possible.

Re: Club in Wisconsin?!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry to say but I have to cancel the meeting for the 8th of Oct. I spoke with a couple of the interested parties this past weekend and I decided that we will plan a club meeting here on Oct 8th, 2006. A fall gathering will be good due to a better chance of good weather and fall colors. QuickSS (jeff) and myself will be working over the winter to get some things organized for the club.

I think it was great that some of the members from the Minn. Club were willing to drive all the way over here. I do hope that they will consider joining us next fall. The extra time till the meeting should give people plenty of time to plan and not have any conflicts.

Jeff and I will be keeping everyone informed on our progress and if anyone wants to help in this effort just contact either one of us.

Thanks again and I am truely sorry this did not work out.

Re: Club in Wisconsin?!

Yes, like Patrick stated, we are canceling the fall get together. Please don't be upset at Patrick as this was decided on by many people. We had terrific response initially to the idea, but once a date and location was set, the numbers responding dwindeled.

So Patrick and I did some talking at Jefferson and decided he and I will get this thing going over winter. This doesn't mean we wouldn't like help, just that he and I are going to take the reigns and get it moving. Feel free to offer any help, advice or suggestions.

My goal is to have a first meeting date and location locked down for spring. We also will be establishing the name and logo as well. I would like an initial set of by-laws for the club laid down prior to the first meeting, and then will be open to suggestions for adding or subtracting.

I will be actively pursuing informing as many chevelle owners over the winter as possible. Derek gave me a couple of excellant ideas as to which direction to take to do that. I also am going to make up a flyer with the club name, logo, first meeting info and such. What I would like, once its done, is for anybody interested to e-mail me and I will e-mail you the flyer to print off and go to car shows in your area and leave flyers in the cars of chevelle and el camino owners. Lets inform as many as possible. We will then be doing a fall get together and will be leaving flyers for that at carshows all next summer as well. Lets make this big.

Anybody that has any suggestions or concerns please let us know. If you are interested in helping us out, we probably need it. Don't be afraid to ask if you can help out. What we don't need is more queen bees than worker bees though.

Thanks everyone, Jeff

This is posted in the members discussion area. We don't need anybody driving great distances for nothing. Sorry to all who were planning on coming. Please come to our spring meeting. By that time things will be well organized and up and running. Stay tuned as I will be periodically posting where we are at with this club. I would like to be able to start accepting memberships by the early part of next year. We just don't need to put the cart in front of the horse, let us get this organized and then we will run with it.

Again, we apologize to any who had planned on attending, but the numbers were very low and as such not worth a couple hour drive for most.

Stay tuned, Jeff
