I just got a rear end from Moser and realized that it needs to be painted. Would it be a flat black? I know I've seen them but didn't pay that much attn. And if anybody has a preference on paint company and it exact color I would appreciate it..thanks, Tom Purtzer

i never said my car had that. it was just a suggestion..
but one of my cousins once painted the rear end under his 73 Monte hot pink and pumped up the air shocks to show it off. the enigne was purple, and he had christmas lights wired up inside the car that blinked with the music.
and about 10 gauges screwed to the center console that weren't even hooked up.
otherwise, it was a nice solid maroon Monte.

What brands of paint was used on the rear? And do you also have any suggestions for color paints on the front end of the car?

Thanks..

I paint the rears with several different colors to best duplicate the original unpainted look. The cast iron pumpkin center section is a cast iron paint. The tubes, rear cover, and backing plates are stainless steel paint to look like bare steel. The control arms and springs are satin black.

I used the Details paint that Ground-Up sells. They make all 3 colors in a high quality, high solids, spray cans.
I used the same paint on the front end parts.
Tie rods/sleeves, sway bar brackets, center link----steel paint
A arms---- satin black
Steering box, pit arm, idler arm, sway bar----cast iron paint.

Here's a source for the same paints sold by many resto suppliers, including Eastwood. They are about 1/2 price from here even with shipping.

Their Cast Blast and other paints for the engine etc. are excellent. Also note they ave "high temp" cast blast for calipers, drums, etc.

For Black, I like the Rustoleum "Satin Black". It's softer than semi-gloss and brighter than flat.

Just my $.02 worth.
