Hey body shop/paint guys. I want to start experimenting with some air brush and stripping and need to obtain small quantities of various colors of BC paints. My guy that used to be my PPG rep as retired and the new guy that has taken over is, well a *****. Where Mike would mix me up a 1/2 pint of something, or even few ounces sometimes and give me reasonable price this guy acts like I'm screwing his daughter if I ask for less than a quart, and my price as doubled at least. With mommy out of work I don't have the extra coin for 60 plus dollars a quart for a little yellow or red if you know what I mean. Do any of you guys have or know of a source where a guy can get small amounts of paint at a reasonable cost (i.e., very small amounts and very cheap :D )

as usual, thanks in advance.

Rick,
do a search or drop a line on this site.

There are a few guys on there at airbrush and knock my socks off every time they post pics of their work.
They'll give ya some ideas on what paint to use and how to use it right for airbrushing.

The best one is under the name Ringo, another is under X...Eric

yea a touch up bottle would be great. An assortment of colors would be good. I don't have any codes, I just starting out. Some red, yellow, purples or blues, oranges, white... anything. I'm going to attempt a "real flame" not the crab claw type with a skull in it to start. I have some (read a little) artistic skill that I hope I can draw on. I'd be willing to cover the cost of shipping and a few bucks for your trouble for anything you can dig up. Sorry I can't do much but money is a bit tight at this point. Drop me an e-mail.

Thanks for the tip Eric, I'll go over and see if I can make contact with the airbrush guy.

Thanks for the suggestion on visiting the shops to see if they have any paint they might be willing to part with. That's a good idea.

thanks for all the suggestions guys.

rick if you needed specific codes i proably get it for ya but since we dont have any old paint laying around no more . we got a paint mixing system we mix as we need it ounces to what ever. in the old days about 10 to 15 years ago we had a few hundred cans i could of sent to you. but go visit some shops those with out the paint mixing system will love to get rid of the old stock laying around. its not that its old paint ,most shops dont want to keep it around because of the epa might pop in . storm

I had my PPG guy mix me up a variety of colors in pint sized containers of OMNI for air brush work. All he did is take the mix colors that I wanted off the bank and add some of the binder needed. The selection has lasted for a few years now and only cost me about $100. I've got all the primary colors and some others. You can mix your own from there. Some here don't like OMNI but it's never let me down and with airbrush work it isn't all that critical considering the amount being used. When done I spray the whole works with DBC500 or similar and then use a premium clear. Works great, and no compatability problems often found with hobby type paints. Bob

Thanks Storm
sevt_c, that guy does killer work, I just took a quick look. I'll get in there and post after class
baddbob, paint must have gone way up, or your guy likes you. My guy wants over 35 per pint for each color I wanted. He refuses to mix anything less than a pint.

thanks guys, I'll keep ya posted.
