The trunk lid on my 67 fits great, until you put the weatherstrip in. It sits high when it is closed. I tried adjusting it tighter a little bit at a time with the trunk latch but the problem is still there. It is metro weatherstripping. The weatherstrip has been on the car for over a year and the deck lid still sticks up.

Is the profile installed correctly?
If you could grab a pic.
No offense, but that's one of the easiest weatherstripping to put in on the wrong angle.

Either the weatherstrip is thicker (or stiffer) than the original, or it was not installed correctly, or if the car had quarters put on it the gutters were not installed correctly. Believe it or not I have seen more than one car that had the gutter welded on top of the bottom channel of the quarter, rather than underneath it as it is supposed to be.

Pics would help to identify the problem.

It's in the right way.
I checked pictures to make sure.
I'd call metro directly then.I had an issue with a door jamb piece fitwise on the kit I bought from them for my 72 camaro.
I gave them measurements and they made me a new set for free.
Its worth a call .

if he heats it up that hot isn't there a chance of it sticking to the deck lid?, rick.:beers:

After the seal is glued into position, wipe it down with a light film of petroleum jelly, this acts as a lubricant and will let the seal Push down to seal properly against the trunk lid. it will help to do it on a warm day.

I had the same problem on my '69 when it came back from paint. The problems were that it wasn't pushed all the way into the channels and it was slightly bunched up around the curves. I pulled it out (no adhesive) I took a plastic scraper and pushed it tight to the inside of the channel a little at a time starting at the top center between the hinges and working a little at a time outward in each direction. When I got to the curves I held it tight and made sure it didn't bunch up around the curves. It's been cold in my shop this winter and it still seals like new since the fall. I didn't use adhesive.
