I like Crower stainless endurance, comp ultra pro magnum chrome moly or if alu crane gold. But they are a bit more $ than the prw or die cast comps.

scorpions crack at the tip..
Never herd that before I will do a search. I have two sets still one used no sign of cracking and one half set new. was gonna run 8 used 8 new on next engine but mine are hydro roller so maybe never had problems on my sbc stuff because less spring with sbc and hydro roller. my other bbc was solid roller and they seemed fine but I did not put many runs or miles on them.

What was the lift on those cams where the Scorpions cracked? His proposed fairly mild .600 lift and 6500 revs for mainly street use, may have a whole different story ending than .750 and 7000 revs and bunches of passes on the 1/4 mile. There are choices of designs for the Scorpions available too.

We have used thousands of PRW without issue until recently on a 440 shaft mount setup, other than that no trouble with them. I wouldnt hesitate to use them for your application, especially the stainless steel which are a pretty nice piece.

I did have Comps die cast break a few months back...mild 430HP 383...I can dig up pics if you want.

I've been told that the scorpion issues were a few years back and any made from 2012-on have been corrected.

I just replied on a older thread about me finding one of my new Scorpion rocker arms cracked at the same place. My bbc only had a couple hours run time. The cam was a hydraulic flat tappet with 228/238 and .544/.544.

I have sent in pics of the cracked rocker arm and waiting for a response. I have to say I am not to thrilled about running the other 15 rocker arms now.

Any one have any new info on this problem with the Scorpions ?

I have a set of these somewhere- I think they are they same brand as Scorpion. I tried them on my HR big block a while ago and they made a weird noise at rpm... ended up putting the cast rockers back on. I'm running Crane Golds now. If anyone is interested in trying these Summit's, I can dig them up cheap- less than 50 miles on them.
