Both Brenda and I were spared the brunt of the storm. Even though we were on the outer band and on the east (beast) side. We had a little worse damage than with Ivan last year. The wind blew for 12 hours. Just yesterday we finally got the trees cut that were laying in our back yard. I lost 6 significant trees and had to repair the roof on both my house and garage.
I will never complain when I see destruction my neighbors to the west received. There's been so much media coverage on the New Orleans devistation that Mississippi is being a bit overlooked. They took the eye. Basically they were flattened, while N.O. was flooded. A significant number of the oil refineries that supply the southeast are located in Pascagoula, MS. This will cause shortages that we are now experiencing here in the Mobile area. Every time a tanker delivers to a gas station, we have law officers directing long lines of those needing fuel. They say this is temporary but that remains to be seen over time.
Supply to local businesses are currently impacted due to fears that the truckers may not have fuel to complete their deliveries.
We will all have to wait to see the impact the results of this storm will have on all of us.
Thanks so much for your concerns!
