Enjoy your new truck buddy! There is no feeling in the world that compares with riding around in your brand new vehicle! And the first carwash... first oil change... first waxing... :)
First scratch...

Yeah, it even says it right on the oil fill cap. Mine and my dads both are the same. Yet I checked out a Hemi Durango and it had a oil weight of 5w-30 on it. Go figure?!?!?!?!

I was lucky, mine had one from the get go so I already got it out of the way, lol. The dealer is taking care of it though. Went through my first tank of gas and even with me jumping on it to feel the Hemi power I still got 15mpg. Will probably be alot better once I learn to keep my foot out of it. I would love to have this motor in the chevelle but there is no way I`ll put a Dodge engine in a chevy, just don`t seem right.

I just bought a CTD. I haven't even seen the truck yet, less than a month to go on my tour in Iraq and I get to drive my new pick-up. Its an 05 QC 2500 with the 6 speed and exhaust brake. I hope I'm as excited about mine as you are with yours!!

You should love it. Everyone I have talked to online absolutely loves the CTD. One guy has a modded one with ~450 hp 900 ft lbs. With the 6-speed it should by one fun ride. Going to be pulling any houses down with it?:)

My dream truck is my buddies 1999(ish) Ram 3500 with the Cummins TD, Duelie, 6-speed, Exhaust brake, 4X4, Quad Cab in Red with a aftermarket hood. Best looking truck I have ever seen. I wish I had the extra $$$ to get one, so I had to "settle" for the Hemi. ;) Not that I didn't want the Hemi, but the CTD is my dream truck.

Good Luck with it and come home safe,
Chris

i don't think i'll rag too much about the trucks getting bad gas mileage- yesterday in a hospital waiting room, i read a Car and Driver review of the new Hemi AWD Magnum, and they averaged 13mpg with that.. hell, my 74 Monte gets better than that, and i don't have a $600 (or more) a month payment.
yeah- the Magnum is cool- and AWD with the Hemi has gotta rock- but 13mpg? might as well get a Hemi Durango.

I averaged 15 mpg on the first tank. My payment isn`t much more than my old truck, well below $600. I was lucky to find a dealer who has a bunch of trucks to move. All said and done, I paid about $7k less than sticker.
I think they are finally coming out with tunes for these rigs, which is good news for you guys.

I honestly walk all over these trucks (4 to date) in my 5.3 Sierra but I am tuned and the tune seems to be the biggest limiting factor in the Rams. Aftermarket is finally catching up. I know there was no way you guys were seeing the HP / Torque numbers advertised on those trucks and its great that there are and will be perf. tunes available to open them up a bit more.

Made a hell of a difference on my 5.3, should do wonders for the Hemi mills.

Congrats on the new rig, bud. Enjoy. :beers:

5w-20? odd.
Not as odd as the 0W-40 Mobil One our Crossfire requires...all 8.5 Qts !! Plus the funky oil filter. Ask me how I feel about $100 oil changes. :(
The past two months I trailered the Chevelles all over the east coast with my '04 Ram Quad w/Hemi. Well over 5500 miles...averaged 10-11 mpg. Not great but was comfortable, easy, secure trips which gotta count for something.
Enjoy the truck!

I have had over 40+ problems now and just have 5300 miles on the truck. After arguing with Chrysler numerous times, they have finally agreed to buy back the vehicle. (This was a 2 weeks ago this coming Wed., and I have yet to hear back from them on their offer). As far as I am concerned, this will be the last Dodge and Chrysler product my family buys. I am now looking into purchasing a Ford F-150 extended cab 4x4.
There are lemons to be had from any manufacturer. As a matter of fact, my boss ordered two F-150 extended cab 4x4's about 6 months ago, one for him, and one for his wife. Those trucks spent more time in the shop than on the road, and one of them even had to be transported back to the plant for some (obviously major) overhaul before he finally got fed up and had the dealer buying them back. He bought two Chevy pickups after that little ordeal. We'll see how that works out.

It isn't a chrysler, its a rebadged and slightly discounted Mercedes SLK!
I think it actually holds 7.8 quarts... there was something done to reduce oil capacity in the 112 motors in 2002 from 8.5 to 7.8 quarts. The electronic measuring is quite finicky if you over fill the oil. The oil filters aren't funky at all when you deal with them all day everyday. My cost is like $14.00 each, and make sure you get the "fleece" style elements not the paper ones. Mercedes switched in '04-'05 to the new style filters, and don't offer paper anymore, but the aftermarket may still sell them. The fleece ones are bright white in color and are wrapped in a spiral of hot glue.
I have been so far lucky enough to aquire enough filters through day to day mistakes or unusual circumstances to not have to buy one yet. Oil is always free for me though :)

Well, I hope you dont have the problems I have had. Just blew my third power steering pump on the way home from work tonight. Third time I have had to use Roadside assistance. I am going to have some choice words with the dealership tomorrow.

I grew up riding in my father's 1957 Chrysler wagon, had a 392 hemi 345 horsepower. Finally got to drive it at 16 and as heavy as that boat was
it was amazing power. I hope that modern hemi gets better than the
8-10 mpg that he got. Also had a huge oil pan, he used to buy surplus
oil from the navy (where he worked) in 5 gallon drums. Have fun with it.

My brother just bought a dodge 1/2 ton with a six speed and the Viper 10 cly.
They told him if he put any trailer hitch on it, it would Void his drive train warranty. I thought thats what trucks were for!

Thats funny, the one in the dealership floor model where I bought my truck from had a factory towing package with the class 4 hitch on it. Seems like Chrysler is making up things as they go along.

thats a dodge srt-10, its not designed for towing although it has certain capacitys, I know hte extended cab version does atleast. But all in all they say its basically a viper chasis with a dodge body on it, very little is shared between the two.

You dont buy a 500hp truck with a suspension designed for handling running on 22in wheels with performance tires for towing ;)
