Thanks guys. It has taken a long time and I'm still working on some minor issues.

I'm now into the second quarter panel on the second car; a 70 this time that will sport a 400 small block, minor body mods (I'm getting braver as I go along) a more highway friendly gear ratio, air and a automatic for those long distance cruises. When it is done I'm demanding that the wife accompany me to Tenn for the Big One!!!! The wife has already informed me that as soon as it is done she is driving that one to local cruises and I'll have to ride shotgun or drive the orange one. I might want to re-think that 400. I also have a 72 Buick skylark that I'm doing with my youngest son.

You're right about the trees John, but you've been to my place. I'd have nothing if it weren't for what's left of the trees. Been trying to sell this old place for a year now.

Next place is going to be new, and I'm insisting on a barn, a big barn!!!

I still don't get the part about them changing the color of your car.
In the article the guy says the car is Red. It is 1987 Mazda RX 7 grand prix red, which is actually 1 shade more reddish than burnt orange. link out to my web site and look at the paint booth photo and you can see the color better.

The mention John makes about trees comes from the fact that my lot was mostly wooded when I bought the place. in fact we only bought the property because of the woods. Three or so years ago a tornado destroyed 65 of our trees. One of those trees fell across the roof of my current project the 70. As a result I had to graft a new roof onto the car. A year or so later a wind storm took several more down, two of which fell on a neighbor's two trucks. In the pictures you can see some of the dead standing trees that I still have not gotten to. Then as a result of my woods, and working to cut up some of those downed trees I ended up tangling with the Secret Service a couple years back when the VP was visiting a local hotel and they took over the neighborhood, bullying everyone and restricting us to the interior of our homes for an afternoon. My rant on here about that turned bloody and a couple of the guys are still not talking to me.

Hey Rick, that's a great write up!! And the car's come a LONG way since I'd seen it last, think it was still in primer when I saw it. Very nice!

Hi Dale, hope you're safe and all's well over in the big sandbox. Rick, keep us updated on how your son's doing, and give him a 'thumbs up' from me!
