Unfortunately its a Ford product. Unless its a Mustang, or has the highest output engines available a car in this condition isn't worth restoring. This opinion comes from someone that likes Ford and has owned a couple of 4 speed Torino's and Fairlanes.

I have a 65 Ranchero---Pretty much the same car without a back seat.

And yes----These ARE a RIOT to drive (I hurt mine pretty bad a couple of years ago
and it is now undergoing a "freshening up") I just started the new 5.0 HO Saturday.

They can go like a "Bat outta Hell" and you can park them anywhere.
Pretty nimble little ride.

Not a lot of things reproduced for these, but if all the outside sheetmetal is good, most anything structural for a Falcon will work.

I doubt this has a toploader tho----unless it was added after birth.
These were Borg Warner t-10 cars (as far as I know)

If all the dash plastic is there and in decent shape----about $500 to refinish (just had the Falcon done)

Quite a few of the Emblems are available.

But----availability is nothing like the Chevelle stuff
And Comet specific parts-----high dollar.

This is what I say about the Ranchero.
300HP 3-1/2 ounces----this car can party!!!

And I shall continue to run the itty bitty 195-14 WW tires with EARLY Torque Thrust mags.

and yes---the 65 (in my worthless opinion) is a sharper car

45 for that car-----I think about 2k too much----needs a lot.
(EDIT---well maybe $1000 too much---lotta parts there that look to be restore-able and not too common)
But you can go ahead and buy it----send me the steering wheel

My father in law has a 64 comet caliente that is rust free and and a very nice driver he bought a few years ago on ebay for 6k.

I had a 64 fairlane a few years ago and can tell you a lot of parts are very hard to find. I had that car 4 years and did not see one part for a 64 fairlane on any local craigslist, swap meet, etc in the 4 years I owned it. I trip over chevelle parts at swap meets an cl.

crites make a lot of fiberglass parts, engine swap kits, etc for comets/fairlanes.

Around 1967 I was looking for my first car. I drove a 64 Comet 2 door automatic in a turquoise color and a 65 Comet Caliente that was silver with a black vinyl top and a 4 speed. If I had my way I would have bought the 65 but my father thought it was too much money and I ended up with a 64 Galaxy fastback with a 289 and 3 on the tree.

My 65 Cyclone from about 20 years ago was a fun little car. It even started at -15 below. Coulda, woulda, shouda kept it, but I was out of garage space. And you're right, they are Falcon based cars. They have hardly any parts in common with Fairlanes.

I like that body style, but when it comes as a shell and needs complete assembly, the value drops considerably. Hopefully everything is there that is specific to that car, and then there is always stuff that will nickel and dime you to death after that. I probably wouldn't give more than 1500-2k for something like that and only then if it were currently non-op'd in CA and the body didn't need work.

I like it a lot but I'm a Ford/Mercury guy too. Since the falcon was the base for the Mustang some parts might be available such as underpinnings, etc. At least that's how it is for Cougars.... I do agree it’s overpriced by about $1500. JMHO.

Just about all of the front suspension/steering is the same as the 64-5-6 Mustang---EXCEPT the centerlink
