hey guys, is there a list with all the different size bolts either body, engine interior, etc? I Know about the master bolt kits, but I see that Tractor Supply sells the bolts by weight; way more cheaper. I got 4 grade 8 bolts, nuts and washers for 0.92! at the hardware store, that would have been about 7 or 8 dollars. So If there was a list I can save a ton of money. Thanks guys

Get the factory assembly manual and cross-reference the part #'s of the nuts/bolts/etc in each drawing. Sometimes there is an adequate description of the fastener next to the part #. Sounds like a PITA but if you maybe concentrate on one area at a time it'll be more manageable.

Paragon Corvettes had a poster of their 1958 Corvette, "T-Rex", and the back side listed bolts, nuts, washers and other hardware they offer and the location used.... might try them

unless you currently have a car with no fasteners present, then I would just buy bolts as you need them. If you buy 500 nuts and bolts for $200 and save $1000, it's still more than spending $20 and saving $100 for just what you need.

You want a list of every bolt, nut & washer in a car? Are you kidding???
we have these kind of cheat sheets for m998's.

Also have a torque cheat sheet that covers every nut on the frame and chassis.

Easier than finding it in the book.

I could compile something like this easily, but I would intend on selling it...:D

If you can find the part numbers for the fastener's in the AIM, I will look the sizes of them up for you.

Be aware, bolt kits from vendors are pretty generic.
They cannot afford to have a specific, accurate bolt kit for each specific model and year of each car.

A kit may have all the bolts necessary to do a section of your car (front sheet metal for example) but the bolts may not be accurate reproductions for your specific car.

Be very careful of buying from a cheap source for bolts that are to be used for critical applications, like suspension parts, etc. Cheap bolts are often made in China and are not made to specifications required for a critical application.

I hear ya Verle. Theres a Government contractor, DCMA who investigates individuals who sell parts to the military. My buddy told me he was investigating a guy who was buying bulk hardware from home depot, re-packaging them and selling them to the military for various aircraft applications. The worst part, if they get caught, they just change the company name and continue selling these low quality parts.

That seems awfully odd to me. I have almost 30 years working on military aircraft. B52s A10s, F4s, F15s, and F16s. 98% of the fasteners we use aren't something you can buy at Home Depot. Maybe it's a tanker thing :D
Im pretty sure you those smaller aircraft use screws and bolts also. I know that the only faster we have that you can't get at a big box store are the "tri-wing" screws and button heads. Where you an Knuckle Dragger on those aircraft?

I started in the EW career field, was an F-15 crew chief for a few years and the rest of my time is in F-15 Avionics.

Most stuff we deal with are not typical hex head type.

A lot are like this:

and this:

Can't say I have seen these at the hardware stores :D

Daren, I love those torque screws. They are so much easier to get out. Every Tri-wing we see, we try and swap out with the alternate PN with a common screw

Think about it, you could make the list up yourself list the parts you need to install and then list the hardware you need to install it.. unless you have no clue then your in trouble.
