Please Help: I need both the left side and right side Tallight/Stoplight sockets with 5 or 6 inches of wire left on it so that I can splice it into my wiring this is on a 68 El Camino. Does anyone have a parts Elky that you could sell me these parts from ?? I would appreciate this very much. Some Idiot had cut both sides that has the sockets that go into the housings. Am trying very hard to get this Elky on the road. I looked in NPD,OPGI,The Paddock and no-one has them. I assume these sockets are the same as most tail light sockets. There are 3 "fingers" that hold the socket into the bezel. The socket is inserted into the bezel and a quarter-twist holds it in.
If so, basically you can use any socket. Get a couple off an 80s car that were installed inside the trunk and didn't corrode. These are usually short black ones and probably a buck or two. Put a thin layer of RTV around the face of it to act as a seal. Pot the rear crimp connections with RTV to keep water out. Solder on the wire pigtails and no one can see the difference.

Sounds like the quickest way. Just pull the assembly that receives the socket and carry it in the door with you. Bet they have one that will fit.
