I am looking for some ballpark figures for the value of my car, for the purposes of a new insurance policy...

1966 Chevelle convertible, Supersport clone. Originally a V8 malibu...

Body and interior are all stock, except the addition of oil and temp guages under the dash and the interior color combo (white seats but blue carpet/dash rather than "correct" black carpet/dash). Bucket seats/console/tilt/wood wheel/radio delete/heater delete/knee knocker tach and factory guages/power windows. Stereo in the glove box with CD changer in the trunk.

Nice body and paint, Marina Blue, California car, had minor rust areas that were replaced with new metal. Not a show winner, but fine/respectable for shows and cruise-ins. New white convertible top (new pump/lines/lift cylinders too, with the top frame painted the body color). Most chrome replaced except nice original bumpers.

Engine is a 1967 396 with Edelbrock heads and a dual-quad intake, small body HEI, ceramic coated headers, Flowmaster exhaust with turbo mufflers, March pullies, L78 Idler pulley and aluminum radiator. Engine compartment is painted body color with some white (powdercoated) and polished accents. Nicely detailed. New gas tank and fuel system with less than 1500 miles.

Transmission is a Richmond Road Race 5-speed with Centerforce DF clutch and Centerforce flywheel, Lakewood scattershield and Long shifter (with factory Chevelle handle poking out the console...).

Rearend is a 1966 12-bolt posi, freshly rebuilt with Moser axles.

Suspension rebuilt (about 6000 miles maximum) with eurathane bushings/Hotchkis springs up front and "stock" later A-body power disc brakes. New AGR quick ratio steering box with correct 1966 remote reservoir power-steering system. Rear suspension has Global West lower arms with spherical joints and stock uppers.

Wheels are 15X7 and 15X8 rallys (powdercoated white). Tires are in good shape...

Pictures in my signature below...

I figured this would be the best place to get an idea of the value...

From my dealings with haggerty ins. they will tell you how much the agreed value will be.
after they see the photos of the car with the list of ecq.you will discuss with them on the phone and reach a value that is the best for both of you.

Hagertys requires professional appraisals if the car is valued over 25K. Under that, they take your word and some pics when you set value. They will however, ask questions if it seems too high, ie 20K on an unrestored 4 door :D

Not always true. Mine is insured for more than that, and all I did was tell them how to get to my website. They looked at it for a while and agreed with my valuation.

I would have to say Modified cars usually have an agreed Value with insurance companies ..
Sometimes you need to get the car apraised ..
Depends on the Insurance Co.
I don't use Haggerty myself i'm in Philadelphia So I use American Colletors Insurance right over the bridge in New Jersey
For My 69 I used the NADA Guide for the Value and for the 66 300 Since it's Modified I had it appraised at a Classic Car dealer and had to show Pictures and receits to prove it's Value.

Was'nt that hard and if anything was to happen There covered ....
You have to watch Insurance companies and ask them point blank If you insure for let's say 30,000 is the car really covered for that amount or will the cars real value be considered at the time of loss if there is one.

Just cover your butt and ask as many questions as you can think of in the event something does happen to your Vehicle.
Remember to read all the fine print

I was talking to hagerty, and I think I told them $25K... They sent the forms, and I think they only asked for several pictures (I've been busy).

I didn't really want a full appraisal at this time (car is not 100% completed), and I don't really have faith in the appraisals...

If Hagerty doesn't need the appraisal, thats great, but I want to know if I have it covered enough...

Thanks...

You can also increase the insured value with Haggerty as time goes on, so as you finish more and more of your car, you can insure it for more money.
