you may get a better response if you post this in the suspension category.
Can you be more specific on what you want to replace this winter.
I went with PST poly super front end kit, edelbrock shocks and eibach springs. I only wanted to restore the ride height but help the steering.

I want to upgrade my stock suspension. I want to replace the A-Arms (should I get tubular)? Replace coil springs to maintain stock height, sway bars ( I have an SS with a 396BB) so do i need the 1 3/8"? upper and lower Trainling arms. What else would I need... I want to do the front and rear. Thanks alot!!!

Are you rebuilding for a stock appearance or upgraded handling/street driving or are you concerned about drag racing and a suspension with good weight transfer and adjustability etc.etc.

I am looking to rebuild for handling/street driving. This is not my daily driver. I do not take this to the track. I do want to keep my stock appearence. I just feel like the suspension is very sloppy at this point and my 396 needs a better suspension to handle its power...LOL

I'm sure lot's here will give you good advice on different brands of components ... however something to think about... when it comes to bushings don't assume you need polyurethane , especially in the front suspension .... with good quality shocks and correct springs/ swaybars stock type rubber bushings will give you good streethandling without the hassle of rough ride/ squeaks etc, Polygraphite a little better
Poly bushings ... Been there done that .not sure I'd go that route on a cruiser again .rear suspension with 4 spd yes would do the poly bushing but ensure the brand of control arms you buy do not bind up , you want that suspension to move freely.... I happen to think HRP has the best designed rear bushings for the ears on the rear end FWIW

I thought someone posted that they bought some tube a arms from Speedway Motors. Can't find the post to check if it worked ok. Anyone remember that? I would be willing to give them a try for the $40 price he said.

Don't cheap out on the hard parts (ball joints, tie rod ends, etc). MOOG, TRW and DANA are about the best in the business. I bought one of the all inclusive front end kits that are advertised on the back cover of magazines. The ball joints & tie rod ends were toast within 50K miles.

To replace it all I bought MOOG hard parts from local parts stores (O'Reilly & NAPA) for about the same total price. And the parts were in stock and I now feel much better.

Dennis,
On your post in Performance on the same thing, someone recalled the speedway arms hitting all sorts of stuff. I dont think you ever got back to the post. What all did you have to modify or clearance to make the $40 tube arms fit? Also, was it $40 for the basic arm and then all the bushings and crossshafts? If thats the case... what bushings and cross shafts did you use? Just curious because I was looking to drop the grand or so on the global west pieces (upper and lower tubular arms) in January/February so this looks like a decent alternative.

Thanks!

Edit-Does speedway make lower arms too?

They make lower arms but not for the A body application, more for tube frames.

Yes, I did need to clearence the mount a little. Any metal that was removed from the mount was simply moved and re-welded. It was not very much material and more overkill reinforcement than anything. This web page has all the details, click the thumbnails for full size pics.

The arms are complete, include arms, cross shafts and solid bushings with grease fittngs. Before anybody gets excited about solid bushings remember GM used them very successfully for many decades in the 50's and 60's. Look under any truck or fullsize car from those era's. After the front-end overhaul with teflon lower bushings and solid uppers the overall ride is actually improved IMO. Very solid feeling with no added harshness.

They are more drag race oriented, however if you going to install upgraded bushings in the 12 bolt rear end , they will sell you theirs separately .....I have installed and used Energy Suspension stuff and it is fine but in my experience you have a tough time keeping them greased and therefore they squeak .... also sometimes they bind up especially on some types of aftermarket control arms .HRP makes a very nice machined bushing that accepts grease properly. Not sure if he has the lower control arm bushings for stock control arms but if he does go for it. ( I just relooked the site and yes looks like he should have a complete OEM bushing kit..all you need for your car ...maybe upgrade the swaybar but I would do bushings first and try it out then maybe consider upgrading sway bar in front then rear. One step at a time is key if you want a nice handling / riding street car ....you can go too far .... been there done that :(
My opinion only, but Ive done a few susp upgrades on different cars.
Good advice on buying quality name brand front end parts ...I like AC Delco brand stuff.....original type inner tie rods might be hard to find for 67 in the name brand stuff
FWIW Bill
