Hey guys, just been having some buyers remorse on the malibu. If I decide to list it, what would you ask as a starting point.

2 owner car a/c power steering
Healthy 355 4 bolt
powerglide
factory 10 bolt with posi

Lots and lots of documentation, original window sticker, protecto plat ect
zero rust very clean restoration. Under the car could use a good cleaning but as you can see in the pictures the car is very straight and clean.

The factory 283 and powerglide are included.

I am just looking for a ballpark figure at this time. Thanks

Mid to high teens, nice color, I used the same wheels on a 65 I build years ago, fit the car nice don't they. A/C helps alot these days. Think your car would fit alot of people today wanting to get into a classic, they car drive to cruz nights in comfort.

I need to replace the evaporator and charge the system but I agree it should help drive the cost. I am in the car for 14 so at least I shouldn't take a loss if I decide to part with it.

I like that car alot. If that is all original, I know I would like it for that range. (If I was in the market) I would want something other than a powerglide but other than that I love everything else about that car, hardtop, color, interior, wheels, A/C, everything.

It's not original it was restored in '94 but looks great.

In my opinion the car looks nice it shouldn't be a problem getting your money out of it.
Thank you, I am hoping you're right.

You are in between a rock and a hard spot with the A/C not working. Just as a working AC adds good value and makes it easier to sell, non working has to be explained to every buyer and actual cost to fix can run well beyond $1K. Good luck.

I agree with John about the Air Conditioning. Having air is a big plus to some. Really depends on what part of the country the buyer is in. In non working condition most buyers would use it as a reason to reduce an offer. I would repair it and add the cost of repair to the asking price. Also would be a little firmer on selling price because of the working air.

If you sell the car on EBay with the car not being seen by the buyer figure your getting around 3 to 4 thousand less than you would get if someone seen the car in person. I recently sold my cloned 69 SS in the mid twenties on EBay but I felt the car was well worth the 30 mark but Ebay buyers could not see it in person to give up that much cash for a clone that was done pretty well.

The dealers kept throwing offers of 21 and 22 and I would not let it go for it. Dealers are in it to make money. I was amazed at how the dealers would talk to me. I tell them what I was wanting and they would tell me they could not make any money on it if they bought for the price I wanted. I told one of them I did not care if they made money on it and he hung up. They did not care how much I personally put in the car in time or effort to make it right. They did not care that it had the original body panels and such. They were just worried about the car having any rust bubbles or rust in the trunk or wheel wells and if the car ran on its own power to make it on the lot or showroom.

Ebay will reach a buyer that is wanting a nice 65 I am just about sure of that, but you have to field a lot of stupid emails from people even after you put things in the ad. It is as if they don't read it.

Fix the A/C and that would keep a good 1500-2000 on the selling price or you can take less for the car. With the A/C working I would think high teens would be a good price for a private buyer.

First of all let me say it is a very nice car. IMO on the other hand the Powerglide hurts the price along with it not being a 138 ... car. That being said I feel it's worth between 15-18K.

Wow, thanks for all the feedback guys. I know the 2 speed and non SS hurt the value some but the powerglide is what came in the car originally. If I decide to keep it, I plan to do a 200-4r swap when money permits. As far as the a/c goes, I was just told it needs freon, yes I know I could have been lied to but the guy was super nice and honest about everything else. He didn't hide one thing from me so I am trusting him on this too. So lumping the estimates together, I am guess if I fixed the a/c I could expect to see somewhere around 16-19k?

That would include the factory 283 and trans.

Everytime I look at this thread I like that car more. If you keep it, you will like the O/D auto swap. Don't rule out a 700R4, it has a slightly better low gear and 2nd gear ratio. You need to get your drive shaft shortened, but it fits OK otherwise.
And either one will be better pulling out that a powerglide, as well as %30+ less revs at highway speeds.
