Ok I replaced the soleniod. Went for a short test drive. Again, it was good, and again I let it sit overnight and then drove to work today, and of course THE PROBLEM STILL IS THERE!! The wiring is fine, its just a 12v wire going to the tranny [actually two independent wries for manual and auto lockup] so my next place to think is the actual torque convertor clutch. Do these things go out after 2000miles?

Sorry I may have missed the original post, but how hot is your fluid running? I ask because if it overheating funny things happen in there.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is not the converter lockup contolled by the trans? If it is, the converter will slip or not work at all if something is wrong with it? Just an observation.

The temp has never been above 160*. During the trip to and from vegas [when the problem started] it never went above 120*. The lockup can happen either automaticly in 4th or manually in any gear with the switches I have.

As a guess, see if the converter clutch valve is sticking. It's in the pump, just drop the pan.
Or there is something called the converter clutch throttle bushing. In the valve body. Haven't taken my 200 a part so I don't know what it looks like or does.

Can you lockup in 1st, if you can then I'd say it's in the lockup valve.
When working right you should only be able to lockup 2nd up.

Ok I dropped the pan again and removed the solenoid. The valve is right above where the solenoid attaches right? I pushed up and down on that thing and it looked ok, went back to start position and everything.

77- I havent tried locking it in 1st. I don't even have the colume adjusted to keep it in 1st as this vehicle is never ever raced, just my daily driver. I would have thought it would lock in 1st though, so thanks for the heads up

HA! I talked to bowtie overdrives today. They built the tranny. Went over everything with the guy, and he has no idea whats wrong. He left it at its either an o-ring on the input shaft or inside the torque convertor. Gota love it. 10,000miles on the tranny, maybe 4000miles on the torque convertor. Anyone want to trade a 2004R for a richmond 5sp?

The lockup valve is not under the solenoid.
It is to the passenger side under a snap ring.
Just pushing on something will only tell you if it is majorly stuck. Stuck so bad you need a new pump.
Maybe you should buy a book on them so your not just poking around in the dark.
