Has anyone ever seen an air deflector for under the radiator to help scoop more air into the rad from below the bumper? I was at a recent meet and saw few cars with them and was told coolant temp could be dropped up to 40 degress on the hiway. Or is this a cutom made item. Would appreciate any help or pictures. Thanks, Rob

All I know is that around 75mph the temp on my car starts going up fast. I am pretty sure it's do to lack of air flow. An aire damn might help.

I used to have one on my 1966... It was attached to the bumper though, so I don't know how effective it would be (I would think attaching to the lower core support would be best, as you are really trying to get more air throught the radiator...).

This was on a car I bought in 1985, and I haven't seen one in years...

I've been thinking about doing this for awhile. I'm looking at the current 93 and up Camaro flat airdam under the car. It looks like it will mount up to the radiator support quite well.

"Back in the days" I made one for a 68 Camaro I had. Two pieces of aluminum riveted to a brace in the center (to allow for the angle) and a brace on each end, all attached to the bottom of the core support. Seemed to work alright. Just had to watch for those high curb stops.

So by attaching this air deflector to the front? of the rad support it will scoop air? up to the front of the radiator? Sounds like a good idea, would like more information about how it works so I can look into fabing it or getting the camaro one.

Yeah, the one I made for my Camaro looked pretty much like that, only I went the full width. Did it actually do anything? I dunno, probably.

Back then I just thought it looked pretty

My '67 Cutlass came stock with one, a plastic thingie attached under the radiator support. Would assume that Chevy made one also. Have not had any highway overheating problems with the SBC in it. Seems like it would be easy to fabricate one out of sheet metal or aluminum. One would just need to see where one was originally attached and go from there. Maybe even make it an inch or so wider to scope more air.

Hey guys, just ran into a buddy and he gave me 1 of those old air deflector wings that came on the back of the mid 70's stationwagons. This wing has a perfect arc to it and spans from 1" outside the frame to the other. This wing is great, it's aluminum and can be polished up. Now, do I use it as scoop or turn it around and use it as an air dam. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Rob
