Hello,
I just installed the MSD EFI Atomic and thought it might be interesting for some of you guys.
I decided to use the return system since Oklahoma is some times hotter than 85F.
Also I did not want to pressure up my tank, or drill holes in my tank lid to vent it, or hear the pump noise all the time. That's why I decided to go for a in- tank pump with a vent port.
Unfortunately I could not find a ready EFI tank, so I used the conversion kit (PU4) from TANKSINC. It requires to cut a hole in your tank and install the pump in it. This was the most tricky part of the conversion. It also requires to bend a bit the sheet metal over the tank to fit the pump ports.
Then I ran two new fuel lines. I did not use the original fuel line since I did not want to risk having any dirt or rust in the EFI system.
The actual installation of the Atomic is really simple and can be done in one afternoon while drinking some beer.
One mistake cost me some headache though. I connected the control power wire of the MSD to a contact on my fuse box which had no power during craning!
This causes the car to fire up randomly when cold but not at all when warm. So check always if the Atomic display has power when cranking.
MSD support was very helpful and easy to get on the phone.
The performance is great!!! It feels like having a new engine with some HP more.
Cheers Bobby
