Could this 1969 chevelle have come with a 1968 chevelle axle

Hey guys,

I checked my axle code on my 1969 300 Sedan Post car and the code is:

CA 03 27

I checked the decode page and it says it is a 1968 Axle with 3.08 gearing. I know this 6 cyl. base model couldn't have possibly come with a 3.08 gear and a 1968 Axle. Could it???

Sorry to double post but this has been bugging me.

There should be a date code on the center section casting.

Also, what is the build date of your car? Quite possible that very early 69 production cars got some leftover 68 stuff.

...........also, in it's 23 year history it is possible the axle has been replaced.

jimmie, I make it 32 yrs. (Easy to transpose those #'s isn't it)
