I guess if you can afford to pay that much for one a low mileage original like this would be the way to go. The bad thing about the car is that you couldn't drive it without a guilty conscience.

well, i think it's kinda low, remember a new mercedes, etc will set you back $50+k and that is the famous 70ss454 LS6 car the muscle of all muscle cars, i mean yeah it's a lot of $$$ but i don't think it's enough for that 7k mile car, i think a lot of cuda's will sell for that kinda dough. besides that 75k will help keep our cars up in value

Why are these cars always sold "for a friend"?

Anyway, I know of a very sweet unrestored original LS6 car that has a few more miles (about 20K) that was acquired for a 1/3 of that price and gives up nothing to this car. The engine on the eBay car sure looks to be cleaned up and repainted to me, that doesn't exactly mean unrestored. I have to now wonder what else may have been fixed up. Not that it isn't a nice example in great shape, but tell it like it is please.

The price is a little ridiculous but doesn't surprise me I guess.

And what's all the whining about not being able to drive it? It runs doesn't it? A few miles here and there aren't going to ruin the value of the car. You could log 5,000 miles and it would still be a sub-10k car. It's taken me 20+ years to log that many miles on my '65 and I try my best to preserve the restoration. But it's got to be driven if for no other reason than to preserve your investment. An idle car deteriorates much faster than one that is driven.

I fully believe in preservation and/or restoration to the Nth degree, but these things are CARS first and foremost.

I spoke w/the new owner of this car. He seemed like a nice guy and is reliving some highschool memories. He told me he used to own an LS-6 in 1978 and sold it for $1,200 after paying $1,000 for it and thought he did well. The car will likely stay at Floyd's museum for a while and may eventually go to NC. It's unlikely to be driven anytime soon.

The engine in a car with less than 8000 miles should look like new.

I disagree. An engine in a car with that many miles, that's been sitting for 31 years will look rather poor. Surface rust, corrosion, etc.

That engine paint was/is not the most durable and rarely did it adhere to the cast iron very well. I strongly doubt GM washed the blocks with lacquer thinner before painting. Regardless, even after 7000 miles and 31 years very little of that paint would be in place.
