Well, on to my next project already.
As some of you may know, I found a small leak in the intake manifold. Torque it down and it's fixed. But, I want to "do it right" and put an new intake manifold gasket. In order to do this, I need to take off the carbs, blower, and intake manifold.
Therefore, since I'm going to pull this off, I figured, "hey, let's build another new motor." So, I'm gonna have another motor built.
It's going to be a Merlin 502 stroked to 540 to 550 CI. Then, I'm going to put the 8-71 blower on top of it. Gross..1,300 hp easily. What am I going to do with it? Who knows and who cares.
Therefore, I've decided to sell my 396 motor and my new 454, .060 over, with less than 100 miles on it. I can give you the engine builder name and phone number if you have questions on the motor.
So, the 396 and the 454 is for sale.
Here are pictures:
396 motor with 4,000 miles
Hear the 396 motor
Hear the 396 motor 2
454 with less than 100 miles
454 rear view
454 Dyno sheet
Hear the 454
Specs on the 454:
454, 4-bolt main
Bored and Honed with torque plates
Parallel Decked and aligned bored
Dura bond 1 pc cam bearings
Brass Freeze plugs
SRP flat top pistons
8.3:1 compression ratio
4130 Nitrated forged steel crankshaft
4340 7/16 Rod bolt dimple rods
Hastings Powerflex file fit moly rings
Clevite "H" series bearings
Comp hydraulic camshaft
Comp Pro magnum 1.7 roller rockers
Ferrea 1pc stainless steel valves
1.900 Ferrea Stainless Swirl polished exhaust valves
2.25 intake
Hardened chrome moly head bolts
Weiand 8-71 polished blower
Dynagear high volume oil pump
Two 750 Holley double pumper blower carbs
MSD billet distributor
Harmonic balancer and flexplate
Intake/exhaust lift = .547
@.050 = 237
Lobe = 114
-------------------
Note: I'm going to sell it without the supercharger and the intake manifold on the 454. I can have a new intake manifold put on for your application. The selling price will be half what I paid for. Again, this motor was built last month with a dyno sheet.
The 396 motor, make me an offer.
There is absolutely, nothing wrong with these motors. I thought I had a cooling issue with my 454 but, it just simply runs 220* with a blower. We ran it at idle for 15 minutes the other day and it sat at 160* (with the fans off). Without a blower application, you would run cooler.
Email me if you like, or call me (888) 588-0151, ext. 243.
You could also talk to the shops to verify these motors.
Thanks.
Tony
