What you need to do to do it right is to remove the headlamp buckets.

To do that you need to remove the headlamps and their chrom trim rings. After that it should be easy. However I do not know if factory were phillips head or torx head screws. If they are torx and you don't have any a small enough hex key will work but go slow.

Okay the Sawzall is a tool made by Makita. It is a reciprocating saw that claims to saw all hence the name.

I was rather unsure about the torx thing but I found a lot of Torx used on my 70 holding the front end on, grill & buckets

No Torx in 71-72. Quad, you must have a "molested" font end. Who knows, it may have went back to the dealer for something and they "updated" them.

Sent the picture to Beldarr...
Hope that it will be up soon.

I also sent him a picture of my original dash.. 4 spoke wheel and a 200 odometer. (only less than 900 were made)

Its a rough picture.. but you can see that the 120 digit is in the middle of the scale.. and not at the end like your scales.

It was design to show KPH.. but it can be adjusted to show MPH..

I wonder how much that dash will sell for

Its an original GM 1972 Malibu dash..
But it has that rare 200 on the odometer.
