I am adding a 100 amp panel to my detatched garage.I ran #2
aluminum wire in 1.5 inch pvc underground.It is a 50 ft run.my
electrician friend has made the connections to the new
box.(one black wire to either side of the main and a gray wire
to a seperate block,common i assume?and the bare ground
to the box)He was only up for the weekend and didnt have
time to finish. Now the problem is the box in the house is
full.He suggested hooking to the main lugs on the top of the
box but that requires getting the power company to shut off
power at the meter. He also suggested getting double
breakers to free up two spots and run out of the breakers. My
question is what size breakers do i need and how do i get the
#2 wire in the breaker because it is pretty thick?Aso what
would the connections be?two black in the breakers and the
gray to the common? thanks in advance.
