I can't access Ebay right now, but going back to that TC ad

http://www.chevelles.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=35428

Is this the same car?

Ironic, as that ad says
A 3 year complete frame off restoration was just completed on this rare and unique Chevelle... restored according to the original buildsheet specs.
Everything is restored or replaced.
And the Michigan dealer ad mentions "rotisserie"...

Yet in those pictures, the A/C isn't even hooked up, let alone "restored"... Sorry, just a personal pet peeve that would make me walk away, or nitpick the car apart... for $43K, I'd at least expect the A/C hoses to be hooked up and looking functional (even if the system wasn't charged)...

And I also agree that "rare" doesn't always equal more money... This car might do well in the SC region, but elsewhere, its special order and color probably won't mean as much. Ebay was probably a smart move for the exposure.

Cool car. I love the idea the car has no posi. Years ago I had a bud show up to a shop where I worked with the weiredest optioned LS6 Chevelle I have ever seen. Bench seat, column shift, no tach, no Posi. Car was blue with no stripes and no Cowl Induction. Completely stripped but ran low 13's all day with peg leg polly. He bought that car from THE original owner with a suitcase of documentation. He also had a 69 Super Bee. 440-6 pack. Gran Spaulding Dodge car but bench column with a dana.

Love to see where this car goes. I am guessing in the high 20's low 30's/

What Mike and Tony say.
Its a nice car but its missing key components 4 speed and bucket seats and every thing working or look more correct.
The market sucks now and to get more than 18K would be tough.
The car is unique in its own way but not enough to get the $$$ no mater what you try and do.
JMHO.

Just look at my car I would be lucky to get 55K for mine now and 2-3 years ago it would have fetched 70K+

I hope the car sells for what your buddy wants, cool piece of history. But I would have to say considering the incorrect items, lack of detail and the options of the car I just don't think it will pull that high of a price. In today's market you can get ALOT of car for that kind of money.

Keep us updated on the sale and best of luck.

I know exactly what your saying inregards to engine detail. I'm one of those detail oriented guys. If it were my car, the engine compartment would have been detailed to the max and complete. Thanks for all the replies.
I feel kinda bad about this whole thing. While this car was being restored. My friend called me and asked me to look at his car. I looked at the car and then he showed me the build sheet. I told him that his Chevelle was a Tri Centennial special order paint car. He was originally going to paint it resale red and sell it. I see him a few months later and he tells me he decided to paint it the original color. I said thats cool, but in my mind I was thinking, I sure hope he finds a buyer for this neat car. So now you know the rest of the story. :D

Goodness, that is a documented '70 SS. It appears to be a decent rebuild, and while not up to the standards of the grommet and clamp crowd, it is one nice looking Chevelle.

25,000 easy.
