So I am in the process of installing my weather stripping and i got the roof rail and I realized I have no idea how it's supposed to sit in that channel. Also I have those little hook's coming out I have no idea how it's supposed to be around those please help! I didn't remove the original so I don't have anything to reference. The pics below are what I was thinking it should look like but I dunno. Sorry for the crappy pictures it was the best I could do I can try to take some better ones.

The little hooks are window pushers that keep the side windows from rattling. The weatherstripping goes in the channel covering the rivets that hold these to the roof rail stainless channel. The rubber ends of the window pushers should be on the outside of the weatherstripping once the weatherstripping is in place.

Thank you for the info. Is all the weather stipping supposed to be in the channel or does some ride on the channel? When I get to the upper area the stripping wants to over lap the inner side of the channel and I'm not sure if this is correct or not. (Sorry I don't know the best way to phrase it) (See last photo in first post)

Also on the hood to cowl my seal does not have holes for the clips but I know it takes clips is it common to have to make you own holes?

It should all be in the channel. Use a bead of weatherstrip adhesive and work a 1 foot section at a time. This will hold in what you've already done. I'm not sure about the cowl seal.

Thanks Davis it looks like I was on the right track. One last question does it go down the rear side of the quarter window or stop at the top? Do you have any photos of yours by chance?

I don't have any pics handy of mine, but I do remember having about 2 inches of extra material hanging down below the bottom of the quarter window inside of the body.

Thanks! Hopefully someone can help me with the hood to cowl

I ruined my first set of roof rail stripping trying to glue it in place and get it so it would seat in fully. Some folks hear suggested it be installed dry and to use a wooden paint stick as a tool to completely engage the strip into the channel. The other problem I had was failure on my part to remove to remove every last spec of the old strip which had dried hard in the dessert heat. After that it went in easily and looked good.

Did you end up gluing it in the end?

You have to poke your own holes in the cowl seal. Start at one side and work your way over. Don't stretch the seal as you install it or the clips will tear out.

Tony,

Did you use the regular seal or the soft seal?

Steamy,

Thanks for the info does it go from fender to fender? also I assume it goes on the forward most part of the piece below the wind shield (don't know how to explain it)

Thanks Tony I'll try it without adhesive and see how it works.

so the seal sits over the clips so you can only see them from the bottom? I wish there was someone local who could help me with this LOL I think i'm making it harder than it is.

Don I just realized the clips you were talking to weren't the ones I was thinking. So on the cowl seal they are on the under side of the ledge? Got any pictures?
