Console would have been Green. Same color as your kick panels.

SEM interior Paints available locally at westco do a real nice job on the color change for interior plastic parts. Be sure to get the plastic prep (cleaner) and adhesive promotor for any areas that get lots of wear (like the console lid).

I think you can also get them now through Summit also, may be a bit cheaper.

There was just a thread in this forum last week about painting consoles. Couple people recommended putting a couple coats of semi gloss clear after the dye. It keeps the dye from chipping off the plastic or so they reported!!!!!

X 2 on SEM and on clear coating the final finish. I used the SEM dark green metallic on all my interior plastic and followed it up with 2 coats of SEM clear after I had to touch up almost all the parts I painted before they were installed. The finished surface isn't very durable without the clear coats... Here are links to some pics I took of the console:

Looks nice Bruce. Exactly what I'll be doing. I think I'll be gathering all the parts and peices fo next winters project. I got a ground up '51 chev thats
got to be on the road this spring!

As for the paint not sticking.....putting clear over it is ok, but it should stick, period. If not, somethings wrong. I plan to talk to a local paint supply store about this. If I come up with anything, I'll surely put it up here.

Todd:I would be very interested to hear what the paint people say about the not sticking issue. I've had problems with that in various degrees in the past. Not with a console but with other plastic components and coudn't figure out why it is hit or miss.
