like in post two i stated that someone had put the cheater quarters on some time in the past. i didn't do it. i am the first one to agree about blasting the body or more preferably having it acid dipped. but the customer didn't want to pay for that. so no.:noway:

Never said I was convinced. The customer said it was a 69. If it's not i don't care. I'm here to paint a car. And make money. I like how people don't read the thread and have all the answers and assumptions.

Referrals. My business has been nothing but that and word of mouth for twenty five years. Again. I wrote in a previous post that I would be informing my customer of what I had found out. But I can only guess you didn't read that either

Rich,

There aren't a lot of obvious differences between 68 and 69 in this "shell" state to the casual observer. The most obvious difference that can be seen from a distance is the rear panel where the 1/4 extensions attach, as Keith pointed out. You can also tell from the trim tag located on the driver's side of the cowl.

http://chevellestuff.net/1968/trim_tag.htm

The model year is stated in the top left corner of the tag as shown on Dale's site. If you can, post a picture of the tag. It contains some information many here would like to see like the original color combination and interior. Looks to have originally been a vinyl top car.

I don't blame you for being frustrated with folks making assumptions about your position. Didn't appear to me you were defending it's status as a 68 or 69.

It's clearly not your fault your customer is misinformed but it would be worth a conversation with them to be sure they know what they have.

Good luck. It's looking great!

I reread all the posts and didn't see anywhere that you were going to inform the customer. Perhaps we are just wasting our time here trying to be helpful. I'm gone.

Everything you said Keith was well said and true. As most painters are I think he's just a grump who doesn't care.

Hey Rich, I see where you're coming from. Keep the progress pics coming, lots of people get inspired and gain tons of knowledge from a thread like yours. I know some pro body guys/painters and I fully understand when cars flow through the shop daily, just how little it matters exactly what the hell they are, your mindset is directed towards reversing the trauma or neglect. Try to understand, it may rub a few the wrong way on an enthusiast's forum, so just drop your guard a little. :beers:
