Usually there are plenty to chime in on this subject.

Although the more information you can give, the more you will get back. Do you want something to set or forget? Or do you want something you can add things to? What kind of use you expect, etc.
 
Nice thing about MS is flexibility. You can buy the kit and build it yourself or buy an assembled unit and go. If you bought an assembled MS3 they might load a config that's close enough to run.

At this point I'm just looking into multiport fuel injections options. I would like to have something I could tune myself and add onto in the future. My long term engine goals would be 550ish HP small block on nitrous. All of my friends are import guys but none of them run a stand alone, and laugh at my carb. small block.
 
I run MS1 on my LS engine and an MSD box for ignition. The best thing about going from a carb to efi is the datalogging that comes with the efi. I have my laptop hooked up and datalog anytime Im in the car, great for tuning and looking for issues. It is great to be able to tune without popping the hood.
 
Yep I'm running an MS3. I've driven my car the 20 minutes to work every single day this summer. The ECU is perfectly predictable and reliable. The car smokes the tires at anything under 40 MPH.

I am running a Buick 3.8L Turbo V6 with 24PSI boost and methanol injection. The fuel and spark is sequential, I use the factory Buick crank and cam sensors, LS engine coil near plug ignition, speed density tune..

I also have excellent gas mileage. I have used the auto tune features to provide 13.7-14.3 air:fuel ratios during cruising ranges. The car easily obtains 22+ mpg unless I get into the boost.

With Seq you can probably go well into the 15's AFR. That's pretty rich for cruise. power enrich should be instantaneous. Have you tried it?
 
Yep, the chips that are out there for the stock turbo buick ECMs sit in the high 15s, low 16s AFR during lean cruise. I have been thinking about using the table switching abilities of the Megasquirt to trigger a lean cruise VE table when the TCC is locked.

Does your setup have MAP? Seems like you should be able to do it without the table switching. Doug F is using dry nitrous, I don't think he is using table switching. He has Holley stuff though.
 
Yes I have the 4 BAR MAP sensor. No MAF, speed density tune. How are you thinking I could do a lean cruise without the table switching? With the TCC locked, the car runs at 2k rpm at 70 mph. If i were to just tune my VE table to be lean at 2k and low load, i could see drivability issues at times other than cruise. Anyways, let me know what ideas you have.
 
I have the MS3 running since last Dec 2011. I have had a really good experience. I have the coil on plug and multiport fuel injection. I studied a bit on other manufacturer systems and think they are pretty similar to the MS3 for the items they control.

The big thing for me was that I can reprogram the system and retune it myself without having to deal with manufacturers. The program used to program the MS3 is Tuner Studio. It has an inexpensive upgrade that is good to get. Another progran to get is Megalog Viewer and it is cheap as well.

Mine is naturally aspriated so I just tune my VE fuel table at cruising speeds to around 15 air fuel ratio.

You would engage the lean cruise dependent upon MAP value. As MAP increases you richen up and vice versa. Typical NA runs MAP < 1 Atm during cruise... I suspect turbo does as well. Once your MAP hits 0.8 Atm or above you probably better be on the 13 side of the AFR balance :)

My belief is that the computer has a lot more cycles to think about how to keep the engine running optimally than I do and there are better things for me to think about while driving that that :beers:
