Will 255/50/17 tires on 17x8 wheels with 4 inch backspacing fit a 1970 Chevelle?

Will a 255/50/17 on 17x8's with 4 inch backspacing fit on a 1970 chevelle stock suspension?

Probably be fine in the rear, but I think the front will need more back space, 4 1/2 - 5" to keep from rubbing, unless your car is high in the air.

I have 245/40/18 on 18X8 4.5 BS in front and lowered some with no problem. I would swear by the way it looks (how deep it sits in wheel well) that 4" BS would work fine, but can't be sure, and of course 4" is a huge drop

Thanks, have 17X8's coming 255/50/17 front 275/60/17 rear. will post pics.
