Took these off today as I had some vib. issues.
Not one of these were perfectly straight. 3 couuuld be balanced out "OK", 1 was way way out.

Lug nuts never seem to be as tight coming off as they were once on.

Is this correct? Wrong nut? Not enough countersink??? Edge of what they call a countersink is digging in to the nut there is a slight ridge there.

Doesnt make me feel warm and fuzzy.

Used repops before with no problems..they were the 10 hole type. These Im not too sure I trust...cant afford more wheels.

Of course after pointing all this out tire guy denies I ever got them from him. :(

Am I overthinking this are these ok or?

Picked up a set at NAPA for $30 today
These are shorter than the pic. Stock style
They look identical taper wise but arent.

Stock ones fit much deeper in the countersink like they should

So this whole time that tiny ridge in the top pic is all that was holding my wheels on. Could this have caused my vibration issues find out tomorrow.

Scary.

$30.00 for stock lug nuts?? Boy, They sure like those lug nuts!!! I don't know if the other lug nuts could of caused the vibration or not but if they where loose, they might have caused it with whell being loose. I know the new lug nuts will hold the wheel tight. Let me know if the vibration went away or not? But those lut nuts you had on there where wrong and i would take them back to him and get my money back on them for sure.  Larry

Got them back on tonight they torque down like they should now

Wheels were def. coming loose on me. Old lugs were getting chewed up (1st pic) they were barely making contact.

Still waiting for my wheel supposedly here tomorrow  If hes still flaking Ill buy one somewhere else. Lucky I didnt lose a wheel and wreck!

Sure hope this solves the problem.

Would get a loud deep hum about 60. Almost like a Ujoint but those are new DS all balanced pinion seems Ok (couple told me pinion bearing could be going south). This HAD to be contributing towards it.

We will soon find out. Let you know.

I looked into this awhile back. The new style lugnuts have a more pointed angle and will chew up your old school wheels. If you have a wheel with a hole too wollowed out. Summit sells the circle track lug nuts thats alot wider.

Took it for a short drive this morning
couldnt get on a fwy but did get up to about 60 on a stretch of road.

Seems much much better.

Vibration is still there although radically diminished
Think a road force balance job and the proper nuts is holding things down the way they should.

Now if I can only get this one front replaced Ill know 100% for sure.

Lugs didnt come loose this time like those others did.
On the right track.

3 weeks later I have a new replacement wheel.

See what happens.

Tire guy said almost all aftermarket rallys are imported. Many problems with Vintiques, too, they make them to the "tolerance" of almost bad but balanceable not super straight. Sad.

If these still have issues have to decide between GM rallyes or Draglites.
Hate to dumb down the look.

just a heads up. When you get these guys hitting the new style lug nuts with a iimpact too hard, they not only wallow out the holes, they will pinch the drums so that the metal around the hole pinches the studs. Ive had this happen before and I blame it on the wrong style taper on the lug nuts. jim

Thanks Jim . I put them on myself at home took the wheel off and carted it back and forth. Hand tighten. I wont let a shop anything get near the car rather screw it up myself. lol

Just got back from a 40 mi cruise, ah night and day difference !!!

Can finally drive the freeways. :hurray:
