Hi - newbie here, so I apologize for any breeches of etiquette. I own a 1970 Malibu 307 that my grandmother bought new in 1970 (probably sounds like BS, but it's true). Grandma passed in late 1990s, my dad (my parents are divorced) didn't know that my grandma was going to give car to me (she had no will), so my mom bought the car from my dad for me as a gift. Car lived outside in Jackson, MI for much of it's life. Needed some body resto and a local Cincy guy my step-dad knows did a pretty extensive restoration (engine pulled, rebuilt and painted, front quarters replaced with *expensive* replacement parts, repainted, etc) back in early 2000s. Car runs well, has (I think) about 60K orig miles, but is a stripper (am radio, no AC, no PW/PS/PB, etc), but is clean - nice re-paint to original blue/green, vinyl top. Interior is base cloth (I guess). Have manual (maybe orig window sticker?). One split in dash and a crack or two in steering wheel, but car is straight - never been wrecked, etc. I thought I'd keep it forever, but I just don't see keeping it. Plan to get some pics, but ballpark what's it worth? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a nice find, especally because its a family owned car. Is it a 2 door or 4 door? If a 4 door, it would be around the $5000.00 area and a 2 door, would be more above the $8000.00 range. Good luck, Joe

Its a 307. Did you read it?

Without pictures just a shot in the dark. One person's definition of a "clean" car maybe different to those trying to place a value.

Oops - sorry. It is an automatic (column shifter) 2-door hardtop (w/ vinyl) and yes, it's a 307 ;)

Realize clean is relative - I'll post some pics as soon as I can - I'm out of town at the moment. Thanks for the responses so far - I was WAG'ing in my head anywhere from $8-12K, so seems like I'm not way out of the water. I'll keep lurking for replies until I can post some pics...

I hope the new owner will keep it the exact same way it is. I really like it and agree with Joe. But be prepared to take a lower offer.

With that color combo I would start at $13,500
I like the way you think. A cash offer at $13.5 would drive it home.:hurray:

I like the way you think, too. I hate to think of this ending up as just another clone - which is (sadly) it's likely fate. I really wanted this car when I was a kid and it's really cool to drive - It's just not a car I see myself keeping for a long time. I actually posted it locally last night at $15K (yes, that's perhaps a bit steep), but 1) Not in a hurry to sell and 2) would love for it to go to a collector or someone who would honor it for what it is. I actually got a call today from a guy (obviously older gentleman) who sounded genuinely excited about it and talked about how he once owned a similar car. That's the kind of person I want to sell it to.

Hmmm, don't drive it enough to justify keeping it? How about the fact your Grandmother bought it new? I think that's more than a good enough reason to justify keeping it.

X2. If that ebay ad is for the car in question. Going to need a lot more pictures then that to get any serious bids on it IMO.

Yes - that's my listing. And yes, I don't drive it enough to justify keeping it. It stirs my soul enough to drive it 2-3x/year. My grandmother had a lot of other stuff she bought new I'm not keeping either.:p If it was my dream car, it might be different, but the sentimental value alone doesn't do it for me. My dad couldn't sell it fast enough it meant so much to him. Doesn't it make more sense to end up in the hands of someone who REALLY wants it than to sit in a garage most of the time?

I posted pics that are pretty representative of the car. Someone always wants a close-up of the ___ or more pics of the ___. If someone does, they know how to contact me :)

The cool thing is that only people that are interested will bid. The others can debate my motives on forums!
