The covers on the inside of the windshield post of my 68 malibu, were metal.
(I don't own that car anymore, and don't know the build date.)

But the ones on my 68 SS-396 are the padded foam style.
(Baltimore, 3rd week of April 68 Build date.)

Which is correct for my 68 SS-396 ?

Thanks

And you've got a beautiful car too.

Thanks, I didn't know if they could be correct.

I posted this question a couple yrs ago and we never really came up with an answer. Seems some cars had padded pillar posts and some didn't. I would think some were changed when they were restored.

My 68 is as original as you will find and it has metal posts. The 69 Camaro has padded posts.
I thought at some point they were padded for safety reasons, but haven't gotten a definitive answer as to when.

The unrestored, unmolested, 72 Chevelle, I sold recently, also had no padding, so....

At this point I think either would be acceptable.

Just to add to the list. Original '69 Interior with metal A-post covers. This seems to go into the books with the plastic vs. metal front, inner fenders. Depending on what plant and when in the model year your vehicle was manufactured, determined some of the differences.
