Have a new gas tank for my 66. I just have some questions if anyone can help me out with.

When I bought my gas tank I also got a rubber mat for the top and insulation strips for the tank straps. Does the mat just sit on top when you install it? Also the insulation for straps do they just set under the strap and then tighten down?

One last thing, the vent off the top of tank. I noticed theres a small tubing that can be purchased for the vent. Is kinda "U" shaped. Does this just att. to that vent on the top of tank with a rubber hose and clamps? Does the tubing just sit on top of tank?

Thnx for any replays in advance.

*note i posted a question close to this in the body shop forum, i guess it was the wrong forum. But i had some questions on painting the tank etc. as well. Sorry for a partial double post.

Not sure how the factory did it, but I installed the new tank in my 69 working by myself, so I used a small amount of gasket adhesive to hold the insulation in place while I installed the tank and the strips.

On the vent, my 69 had a little clip to hold those tubes in place if I remember correctly.
