What difference does it make if I'm pushing the buttons on my phone .................OR any of the buttons in the dash, console or door panels?

Radio, heater/AC controls, trip meter, power windows, door locks, cruise control, etc,,, etc,,, etc???

What about eating my cheeseburger and fries and drinking my soda?
What about reaching down to scratch that itch on my foot?
What about reaching into the console or glove box for a kleenex cuz I just sneezed and my nose is running?
What about moving my visor down or over cuz the sun is shining in my eyes.
Are we going to outlaw all of these things too?

The talking on the phone and texting while driving law is pure BS.

Some people can chew gum and skip rope at the same time and some cannot.
It's your responsibility to know your limitations and conduct yourself appropriately.
Not create a law that groups all people into the dumb club.

yup,, but they needed a reason to ticket you at a 100.00 a pop..
if you can't talk on a phone and drive you have no biz having passangers..
texting, is no different than that big stupid GPS screen on or IN the dash...

bet the texting ticket comes with a 6 years of surcharges too..

How about like they do in Europe... an all inclusive ticket... Dangerous driving, or distracted driving.

Most can't seem to drive while driving. I tend to think that for every new law passed an old should be repealed, but texting and driving is just wrong. So is playing with the GPS. If you can't figure out where you are, or continue til you get to a landmark, you need to get off the road.

While I do agree with some of the stupid laws they have now. I had a cousin whom was a close relative of ours that was sitting in stopped traffic, at 10PM, in a major freeway construction project when she was hit hard in the back from a 17 year old idiot that was texting. How this moron didnt see 10,000 orange construction lights and everyones brake lights in front of her is amazing. My cousing got to the hospital and died. The point is your behind the wheel, pay attention to the goddamn road. Not typing on a phone.

how so.. I text whill at red lights, if you can't hold a brake pedal down while type'n. you need to turn in your lic. to drive. I don't know about you. but all the red lights I hit daily, I can time when it be green again..
without having to look up.

news flash, the same things happened before the advent of a cell phone....
but somehow, banning texting on that cell phone is gonna stop wrecks like this.. come on.. are you really that blind..

So one isolated accident By an inexperienced 17 yr old female driver is cause for the entire country to be banned from talking or texting on their phone while driving?
No.

I don't subscribe to the idea of the masses being limited to what they can do because of the mistakes of a few.

I figure it this way.
Since I am only one person and don't have the ability to overturn a ludicrous law like this, I am just going to ignore the fact that it exists and continue on with my life as I see fit.

If your primary concern while driving is driving, (and it should be) then you can do almost anything else within reason. Common sense, people. Common sense.
