malibu =

it doesn't have to have SS in all of the typical places to have the good SS-equipment on the car

like, SS-hood, 12-bolt, shorty eyebrows, wheel well chrome, BB-engine, etc...
nothing wrong with a nice malibu with upgraded equipment... :)
make it the way you want it, but i wouldn't clone it.......

x2 It doesn't have to have SS emblems to be cool.

A lot depends on the amount of work you have planned. Right now it's a "tweener" like so many others. I like them either one way or the other, all the way. This one needs the lower body trim and Argent Silver paint to be back to 100% Malibu appearance. Needs a lot more work, probably some body work and paint for 100% SS appearance. Not to mention I'm guessing a big block transplant. Same for a COPO clone. I personally don't mind a '69 up SS or COPO clone as long as it's done right and done all the way. Just my .02.

Being a vert I would keep it a Malibu. Its cool already, like some other posts have said, with some attitude.

Whichever you & your family decide. :)

But, if you decide Super Sport, do a point-by-point "accurate" transition.

Anything less? Leave it alone, don't even start.

There's wayyy too many lame haff@&& attempts out there already.

I would do a BBC, O/D trans ( or a TH400 with a Gear Vendors O/D unit ) SS hood, and eliminate all of the engine and Malibu designation emblems. Keep the Chevelle emblems on the front valance and truck lid, and no Malibu lower body trim. Wheelwell mouldings would finish things off nicely.

And even though I'll likely get flamed since they are a common wheel, I'd go with a Torq Thrust D or Cragar SS with radial redlines.

This would be cool. Drop in a nasty solid roller 427 & a 4 speed with some dog dish hubcaps and body colored wheels.:D

Malibu all the way....I;m partial though......I like simple the no badge/emblem look. A car guy knows will know what you are driving...like others said if you do decide to go clone, it is all or nothing....nothing looks cheesier then a couple of SS badges thrown on a malibu!
