Finally got the new engine fired off for the first time yesterday! And thanks to everyone for all the great advice along the way. Couldn't of got this far without all the help!
Running into a problem with the Edelbrock 1806 though. On the first fire up, gas came gushing out of the top of the retainer for the driver side metering rod. Figured out it was a stuck float, fixed that and made a couple runs. There is a definite stumble starting right off idle. I just checked the float levels and made some minor adjustments. Checked the metering rods and their not sticking. One thing i noticed is the secondary air door was binding up and getting stuck open. I think i fixed that, but clear up to 3500 or so that door does not open. At what point should that door be opening, and what is the proper precedure for adjusting the spring tension. I went a turn and a half after it closed? Any suggestions before i start changing rods and springs.
BTW, i set timing per posts here. 36 total with vacuum unhooked. It was all in by 3000, and then hooked the vacuum line back up.
Heres a link to a half ass burnout but you can hear the bogging. But i was still all smiles :beers:
