Von, is correct. It is also known as gold cadmium plating. The reason you see so many other colors is that most folks don't go to the trouble to do it right. My pet peeve is seeing "frame-off" restorations with boosters sprayed silver. I think there is nothing more eye-catching when you pop the hood than a correctly plated booster and master cylinder lid. I'm having my caliper mounting brackets gold-cad plated as we speak - that's correct on them also.

Thanks for the responses. Part of the reason I was asking was that a 70 that I am working on was sprayed silver. It looked very bad. I tried cleaning the paint off with a thinner rag and it looked like it was more of a cast color under the paint. It looks like I am going to have to have it replated.

Von is correct. I recently had my brake booster rebuilt/replated by Steve, and I am very impressed with the final results. Looks GREAT ! The cost was (I believe) $155.00 total, and that included the extra cost to have the "face" of the booster polished, since my was slightly blemished. Turned out looking better than new. Now if I can just get the rest of the car together...

We were going to go for the cadium plated look also....but the Eastwood kit was too expensive. We decided to paint it an aluminum color...and it looks great. That thing took seriously about 3 days to clean to bare metal. We used extremely heavy duty industrial strength paint stripper.... followed by hours with a wire brush on a grinding wheel. It all payed off...as the original "Delco" etching can be seen on the face. Or you can pay $200 bucks to have someone else do it........
