In 1969, I wonder how many people, when ordering an SS396 Chevelle, realized that they would get a 300 Deluxe car unless they specified the Malibu based model. It was the first time that this had been done. The salesmen themselves probably didn't even know the difference. I would imagine that this happened more than a few times.

It went from $46k down to $40k overnight???

Looks like someone has changed their mind on wanting this car. There was a guy with 2278 feedbacks with several bids on this, that had all his bids retracted. Hmmm

I have been quiet on this thread as I am currently one part of the 5 active parties bidding on this very rare and special `69 Chevelle. As I predicted....there would be a lot of discussion and assumption on this car. I believe every car has its story and it`s great to hear everyone`s opinion on what happened and how it all happened. I have been in contact with the current owner, who seems to be very honest and accommodating.
Before anyone jumps the gun and wonders why the bid went from $46K to $40K - is because a recent bidder... bid the incorrect amount and threw off the numbers.

It will be very interesting to see who will end up with this unique car. May the best man, partner, wife combo team win and bid a much closer to the Hemisphere Price....Sorry, Jeff. I thought that statement was way to funny...I just had to mention.

Good luck to all the parties.

Dan

Why do you think the car sat at the dealer for so long before selling? Think someone made a mistake when ordering and backed out when it came in. That was alot of money back then for something that wasn't what you expected.

It will be interesting to see what the 2278 feedback person puts his "correct" bid at.:secret:

Dan your thoughts and current cars are what makes something like this almost impossible to place a value on . It has evidently attracted others with a similar philosophy. I would like to ask additional questions but a truthful answer would sacrifice your position in the bidding. I do hope when the bidding is over you can give us a more inside look as to how you approached it. Win or lose I wish you the best of luck.

I don't know the car,never seen it,don't know a lot aboot Chevelles (Other than they are bada$$,especially a 69 Yenko or a 70 LS6.Oh and 138)

IMO,and I may be totally wrong, this is a cool car.

Is it a L89? Doubtful,but maybe.

The only actual red flag that I see is the docs.

I mean,c'mon,if you were playing cards and had a royal flush, would you not just lay your cards on the table, then rake in the pot?

I would,cause I got nothing to hide.I won.

Bellee dat.

What really put me over the edge that this is a real car is they purchased the car from the "Original Owners" and "We Absolutely Guarantee this information and car to be truth and factual and have PAPERWORK to prove it and back it up."

I would still have to see the car in person but it's pretty much a no brainer to me!

Like I said before....this blows a lot of "rare" cars out of the water. :D

BTW...I noticed it's up to $47k!

Kurt :beers:

Why is the US $47,000.00 on Sept 2nd above the US $47,000.00 on Sept 3rd?

When 2 bids are the same amount, the earlier bid takes precedence. Just the way Ebay has it set up

OK yall help me here 85k?????do yall believe it sold for 85k in that condition ???
Yes, and apparently one of the most credible Chevelle people on the planet is the new owner.

My guess on the earlier cancelled auction, bid retractions, etc., is that some schmuck bid a million dollars (or some ridiculously high price), which revealed the reserve price, then said schmuck retracted the absurd bid claiming they "entered the wrong amount" or some other lame excuse  So, with the reserve price now known to many people, the seller just decided to relist with a BIN of $85K. That's my guess, and I'm stickin' to it

bellee dat. ?
It means "believe that" in "urban language." I had to google it to find out what it meant.

I guess it was too much to actually spell it out!

Anyways, congrats to the new owner of what I believe to be a 1 of 1 Chevelle! :beers:

Anyone telling who the new owner is and what the plans are for the car? I hope once it's restored we can all have a look at it.
