can anyone tell me if the Caliper Backing Plates (Ground-Up #FPP-11J) fit okay? I have heard that the reproduction caliper bracket do not fit well at all with SS wheels so before buying wanted to know if there are any fitting issues with the repro silver backing plates.

Are you asking about the caliper brackets, or the backing plates, or both.

I had the repro caliper brackets on my car, and they rubbed on the inside of the wheel. I had to grind a bunch off the bracket. I eventually found originals. I wouldn't use the repros unless you have 15 inch wheels.

The repro backing plates look nice, and fit well.

My only gripe with the repop dust shields ( they are not backing plates) , and I am sure all of the vendors sell the same one, is that it seems to be a much "softer" metal than the oem ones. When I torqued the big center bolt it actually dug in and twisted the dust shield.

It is the dust shield that I am after, however, that is how it is listed through Ground-up and I figured it would be easier to list as Ground-up did. But I am looking for info on the dust shields (GU Caliper Backing Plate FPP-11J).

The aftermarket dust shields I got for my 65 chevelle and 69 cutlass brake conversions worked fine. But, the aftermarket caliper brakets are another story. The bends are not smooth and therefore they will rub on stock SS 14 inch wheels. I had to grind and grind, and weld some tiny supports where I ground away metal to nothing to get my SS wheels, to work. But, with that elbow grease, all is fine now. If I had to do it again, I would look for used original A body caliper brackets. I used them on my 69 cutlass and the olds SS stock wheels (14 inch) fit fine. Aftermarket brakets should be fine for 15 inch wheels.

FWIW - I bought a pair of the brackets from Ausley's a few years ago and they fit and cleared just like originals.
