Well then, if you're considering dropping the cash to buy one of those, you should look into a factory tri-power set up.

There's some good buys on them out there right now and you can get plenty of help from a lot of people here and on other forums.

we built a 427 oval port iron head street motor with the six shooter setup about a year ago. made 440 horse and torque on 93. runs fantastic in the car- great throttle response, driveability. observations: poor machine work, poor quality castings, awful tech line demeaner. this setup is mechanical progressive and works perfectly 1:1, but if adjusted progressive the outboard carbs no longer open fully and the motor loses 50 horse on my dyno. overall, works fine and you will be happy with this setup ; overpriced in my opinion and built at the lowest cost possible. no axe to grind with bg, i have their pump in my drag car but i want you to know what i experienced in the real world before dropping this much cash. thank you.

Just heard back from BG ,(very prompt i might add)

tested as is on a 502
Height 12.25 at the back china wall
11.50 at front with a 3 in element

i measured mine today and i coming up with 10.5 on my 67 hmm

This car was at the Peach State Chevelles show.

Real nice guy. I spend some time talking with him about the intake and car.

To fit under the stock hood, he needed to use a lo-rise OEM tri-power manifold. The motor in the car is a late 502 (if I recall correctly).

I checked on prices for the BG, basically $2K to $2400.

There's a real nice lo-rise on ebay for $1500 (may be negotiable) and you can buy new carbs for $1200 (also maybe negotiable. 10 sets in stock), AF and associated parts about $400-$500. Get the manifold restored ($200).

It fits..I know, I "seen" it!

If you ever change your mind, you will still get pretty darn close to that for all of the parts. They aren't making them any more (only the 67 version is done repo)

If you do the BG, you need a new hood $300-$400 plus paint) http://www.carhoods.com/WhereTheWildRidesBegin.htm

If you ever go to sell the BG, you'll get 1/2 back...maybe 1/4...maybe.

My recommendations is that if you are going to do a tri-power, go stock.
