I did not take the rearend out of the car. After spending two days trying to get a new poly bushing in for the upper trailing arms, using various rent a tools, and lots of hammering that did no good. I learned something from the Hotchkis website. I did alot of searching on this site, but did not see this mentioned.
**** Take the poly(rubber insert) out of the metal shell. Then you hammer the metal shell in to place with moderate effort. Then tap the poly-rubber back into the shell, followed by the metal center.
Before I took the inserts out I hammered away for almost an hour with no movement at all. I even had them in the freezer for two days before hand. Once the insert was out it took under 30 seconds. The poly must keep the metal from flexing. If someone else posted this before, I guess I missed it.
I had to put new shells in due to having the anit-hop bars on it. If you are just going from rubber to poly. I would suggest leaving the shells and just replacing the inserts as has been mentioned before.
