After chasing this car for an agonizing month, I finally got this 1970 SS Chevelle. Neat thing is that I used to street race (over 20 years ago) with the guy that owned it, so have known the car for a long time. Have a build sheet, indicating paint code 55 Champagne gold, no stripes,no vinyl top, 4 speed, 3.55 12 bolt posi, and L-78. Originally sold at The City Chevrolet Co., in Baltimore.

Car was parked in the late '80's, and hasn't seen any road time nearly 20 years.

Oooohhhh, not very correct under there. Original short block from what I can tell, but heads are ovals, wrong intake, Predator carb (yikes, remember them?). Have to do some sprucing up before I post under there....

Am curious about one thing. The hood that is on the car appears to be the factory hood, showing Champagne Gold under the black repaint. It does have holes that were filled in at the front, where hood pins were at one time. On the build sheet, though ripped, I see =ZL(can't see the 2 because of the rip). This means that the car was a cowl induction car, right? Can't wait to go home to see if someone patched over a flap door in the hood at some point, because it's not there now..... but, perplexing thing is that SS is specified for air cleaner, indicating the open element....

Nice find, where did you street race in Maryland? I am from Rockville and used to race there.

Very nice and I agree about the more pics, and the not correct thing doesnt matter to me. I actually would prefer to see them the way they are/were used just as much as the way they were sold.

I too am interested about the Street Racing. My Elky has never left MD and was in the Balt. GB, Randalstown area during that timeframe. Do you recall seeing a 1970 Elky either Silver or Black? I am told it frequented Capitol Raceway through the 80's and was running 11.80's.
