Get a higher stall converter and maybe you don't need to do neutral slams to do "sexy" burnouts! Same fun, easier on the drivetrain.

I don't have any better pics at the moment. Right now it has my $25 dollar CL special Mags on, and the door trim has been straightened and put back on.

Car needs more horsepower and more mechanical advantage.

I've got 4 choices as I see it.

1. Another Glide- Bolts right in, still sucks. Will be back on road soonest/cheapest
2. TH350
3. 2004R- 4 Gears, Overdrive, same length as PG and TH350, downside is finicky TV adjustment and less reliability
4. New Process A833 OD out of a '80-'85 Chev truck, 4 Speed manual, fourth gear overdriven. Upsides, Truck gearbox that is designed for abuse, cheap to buy. Gear Bangin'. Downsides, Driveshaft and floorpan mods, need to acquire miscellaneous Manual gearbox parts, wide ratio, and me being me, I'll be more apt to explode the Engine.

Just get a TH350, also a bolt in and very cheap. Of course just my opinion but I would think you would have better luck finding a working TH350 and converter to drop in for about $100. Should make the car a bit more driveable.

Hey Brett, I saw that on there.

Now, heres a funny thing, I live with my father (lol poor 20 year old with **** job) and he's pushing super hard for me to just shove another 'glide in. (The car is registered to me and I pay for everything on it though.)

The reason for that is that I need to be on the road ASAP. My only other transport is Metro+My legs... Shoving another POS glide in is sounding more like the plan at the moment.

I'm pretty far in over my head honestly.

Going to go look at a TH350 tonight!

Hey, do any of you guys have a TH350 compatible Flexplate and Starter they'd be willing to let go of for a deal? I've read that some of the TH350 converters are dual pattern to fit either flexplate but I don't know what I'm getting into here.

Your present flexplate obviously only has one pattern? Hopefully the T-350 converter has the same pattern. All the flexplates I own have both.

Do you have a shifter?
No, What I understand is that the Standard PG Shifter will work out like this-

P-R-N-D(3)-L(2)-1 1st gear will be off the indicator but it will still shift since the detents are in the trans not the shifter.

I've heard so many conflicting stories on the Flexplate, guys having to change them, guys not. Apparently there are two different sizes of flexplate, the PG one is a 12 3/4 and the one usually associated with the TH350 is a 14", the 12 3/4 ones have a inline starter and the 14"s have a offset starter, apparently some of the glides had a Flexplate compatible with the TH. ALSO, apparently some TH's came with Torque Converters that have a dual bolt pattern that will fit either Flexplate.

I really need to talk to someone with another '66 who's done this exact swap.

I can't say which I have because I can't get to the car. It's in Everett and I'm here in Seattle. I don't know whether I'm doing the swap there or having it towed here.

It still looks like a swap I'll be able to accomplish even with my modest (godawful) mechanical skills though.

Jim, check out these guys for the shifter stuff if you want the lens to reflect a 3 speed.

Hey, thanks for the link.

At some point I might do that. Ultimately what I REALLY want is a 200R4 or a 4 Speed. Right now, like much of the car, it's just getting mickey mouse'd together.

I bought it!

300 for a Recently Rebuilt TH350 with converter, has a shift kit in it as well. Guy said he'd refund me if I had problems with the trans and he also gave me the number of the guy who rebuilt it. It's all good.

Converter only has one bolt pattern so I'll need to find out what Flexplate I have.
