1350 Yoke for 12 Bolt

I am planning to get a new driveshaft with 1350 U-joints. It will come with a TH-400 Yoke, but I will need to get/install a 1350 yoke in the rear.

Are all of the 1350 yokes forged or billet, or are some cast?

Any suggestions on what brand to buy, or where to buy from? Where can I get the best deal?

Any brands/places to avoid?

I have frequently read that Spicer Solid U-joints are the strongest/best, but I read a post recently that claimed that the Forged Spicer 1350 12 Bolt Yokes "have a thin area" and are not very strong. Any truth to that claim?

Thanks, Joel

I ordered the Moser yoke and hardware kit from Summit. Very nice looking pieces. I also ordered 2 Spicer solid 1350 u-joints from Denny's. I've never heard of a thin area. This may be something associated with zerk joints, but the solid ones are the way to go for strength.

Thanks for the replies.

I didn't read anything about the U-joints being weak (I have only read good things about the Solid Spicer U-Joints) it is the Forged Spicer 1350 Yoke for the 12 Bolt that was claimed to be weak. I'm just wondering if any merit to that claim.

My guess is that even if it is not the strongest available, it is still pleanty strong for the great majority of applications, but I would like to hear what others have to say about it.

Can anyone comment on the strength of the Forged Spicer Yokes.

Anyone ever hear of anyone breaking one?

I don't need the ultimate in strength, I don't have huge power, and won't be racing much, but I don't want to buy a weak part.

I have found a place that currently has them on sale, yoke, bolts/straps, seal, nut, crush sleeve, and a solid Spicer U-joint, all for $120

Seems like a good price compared to other prices I have seen, but I don't want to purchase if they are indead weak.
