Today I was cleaning up my floor pans (66 Malibu, KC plant) and I noticed a very small (1/8" tall) "ZA 25" stamped into the floor pan. It is located to the right of the tranny hump, close to the left front mounting bolt for the bucket seat. It is readable from the inside of the car.
What is this this marking for and what does it mean?

Anybody know?

I have several panels in my Elky with a stamping in them.
the cover plates just in front of the tailgate
and the cover plates under the shelf in the cab have stampings on them
Pretty sure I saw some stampings on the panel that go inside the tailgate as well.

I think it may have more to do with the stamping/die equipment-----but that is only my thoughts

Thank You, John. I have sent a email to Duane asking for his help.
It's kinda weird that no-one else on this site has replied to this question. I can't be the only one who has noticed a stamping like this on their floor pan. I tried to search past posts, but I didn't have any luck with this stamping question.

I did not get a definitive answer. I tried to contact Duane after I posted the question, but I had no luck contacting him. I should try again now that weeks have gone by.
Tanks; Did you find numbers too?

I have a 66 malibu California car what has those little stamps allover on the inside panels, down on the floor and on the sides near the vents, on the firewall, there were some other stamps underneath on the inner rockers and such they are all over my car. Kinda interesting.

Are they the same ZA 25??
Got any pics?
Welcome to TC.

Dan

Turns out I was mistaken, Raider SS, my door panels are not stamped ZA 25 they are ZA 15 L and ZA 15 R (left and right door, respectively). See pictures. I also found an AA 12 stamped near the floor on the rear seat side panels. There may be some date significance or ?

I have not found any numbers yet, but I am in the tear-down process. I really don't expect to find any, as my floor pans are so rusted I don't need much for tools to rip most of it out. I am replacing with a one piece floor pan and was looking to re-stamp the new floor with the correct numbers if we can figure out what they mean. My '66 is a convertible that was made in Kansas City as well.

I don't know anything about the stamped numbers, however I did find several numbers stamped on the pillars in my car. I don't remeber what the numbers on my car are, I will have a look tonight when I get home. Could it be that these numbers indiacte placement for the particular panel as the body was being built?

This is interesting: I found this stamp on the fender, under the trunk lids front corner.....you know, where the Dutchman panel meets the fender.
1361726. I'm thinking they'll be no mistaking this car as a Malibu, eh?
