What can I do to do away with radio and cd interference from engine? We installed new engine with new distributor new wires, new everything. Before engine install radio and cd player played great. We also installed 700r4 overdrive at the same time. Any ideas what to do? Cruisin season is upon us and I need my tunes.
Thanks

Could be more powerful coil or "new"/different alternator? Different plug wires? Lots of possibilities. An easy fix is a filter that goes into your +12V source for the radio. You can get them at Radio Shack. Get the largest if there's a choice. Also make sure all your grounds are in place in the engine compartment (including one for the hood, ground strap 'around' the hinge) Also make sure your antenna base is grounded good. (It should have knurls that bite into the underside of the mounting point and the "nut" is good and tight) Also, I've cured some noise by using a real ground strap from the case of the radio to the ground point under the dash.

In the old days there was a condenseer for the radio that was hooked up to the coil if I remember right. I'm sure there's still some type of radio condenser that you need to hook up to the distributor or coil to help with the static. You can ask the company that you boiught the distributor from. I'm sure they'll have a solution for you.

Do you have solid core plug wires?

Probably need a noise filter on the supply line to the radio.
