Pick your poison, they are all cool!
I've seen with my own eyes a DOHC 427 Ford. I can't even describe how it looked. Kinda like a Mopar 426 on steroids. Bigger and meaner looking. I was also told that they only put them in a couple 67 Fairlanes. (actual number unknown) That's why I said that car. I heard this from more than one source as well. I'll have to dig up something on this.Well, the difficult thing is how do you want to define "factory"?
The 427 Ford Cammer (actually a single overhead cam, not a DOHC) was released in 1964, and subsequently sold strictly over the parts counter. Never factory installed, probably excepting a few Kar Kraft creations. Somewhere buried in my Automobilia collection I have a factory SOHC 427 assembly manual - the book you got with the engine. It showed a 616 hp rating on the 2x4 version on gasoline.
