Hey all. This may have been covered before, but I have a question about the wiring of the 6al box. Situation is, I just installed a new engine wiring harness for my 69 chevelle. Realizing I got the non HEI, I made the necessary switch of the resistance wire to 14 gage wire. I now have the 6al in place and the wiring harness in place. I now just need to make the necessary connections. My questions are, what wire from the harness connects with the 6AL and where. And are the wires (purple and yellow) from the harness that go to the starter even needed anymore? The 6al manual states that it needs a 12v switch that is plugged to the thin red wire. Im assuming this would be the ignition switch wire? Which is the wire that originally would have plugged to the distributor? This is where im confused.

Thank you all in advance.

Ok, I have one more question. I know that the purple wire goes to the starter, but does it go on the same post as the battery + wire? Also I have the yellow wire that is connected to the original coil positive wire that looks to go down there too. What terminal does that go on? I have looked at the color coded diagram on one of these posts. The starter on there looks like it has 3 posts. Mine is a Summit high torque mini starter and has 2 posts. The upper post is for the battery and the other one I suppose is for the bendix?

Ok, yea the manual says to hook it to the spade terminal. The posts on the solenoid are the same size, but it has what I believe to be a spade terminal off to the side that is attached to the lower terminal. I guess just in case I had a different connector. Thanks for the info.

Yea but I didnt put 2 n 2 together til it was too late. Guess it wont hurt anything. I just plugged up the starter and installed. Tried to check the gear lash but when I pull the pinion to line them up they are positioned wrong and hitting each other. No oil in the motor so I can turm the flywheel. Guess I should just wait?
