Any of you guys go to The Rod Run To The End Of The World? Its the first weekend after Labor Day every year. If So. Is show/event that comes closeto it here?

I've been going for 6 or 7 years and wouldn't miss it for anything i live for this event i usally stay for 5 days its my yearly vacation. its awesome theres a huge car show porbably about 1,000 cars in it and another couple thousand bad ass cars bombin around town for 3 days. There is also a great rod run in Seaside,OR the same weekend. Both shows are only about a 30 min drive apart so theres all kinds of cars everywhere you go. the local Chevron staition is usally outa premium by the second day of the rod run LOL

I know its a ways away but i was goin thru some pics on my computer and couldn't help myself

heres a link to the site of the club that puts the show on they used to have more pics of the show http://www.beachbarons.com/
Heres a few pics from the run this year first is a pic of me Chevelle and my buddys 455 skylark, second is of my dream car one bad ass 67 chevelle you should have heard it run, and third is a very cool 67 chevelle a custom shop was building

Yep I go. TOG and I cruised down together last year:thumbsup: My older bro lives in Longbeach and is the Commanding officer of the Coast Guard Motor life boat school in Ilwaco. Its a great family time for us. Here is a pic of our cars out front of his house last year.

I have been going to rod Run for the last few years. I am booked for this year already. Here's a pic of me in my Monte at the beach. Below that is a pic of where I had to park the Monte. The guys looking at my car are inside the show and my car is in the parking lot because it is not 72 or earlier.. We had my wifes 66 must GT in the show and I had my fun at the cruise. It was this trip that inspired me to buy my 66 Chevelle and put my Monte running gear in. For 2009 I hope to be in the show instead of the parking lot!

that plus my right foot equals trouble. This next year there won't be much show and shine for the elkie. I'll still go to the rod run and have a car there but i'll probably just be one of those cars on the sides of the streets that just sits there. The cops are getting REALLY bad down there.

Hey russ I remember seeing you car in the other lot and saying "oooooooohhhhh blower"

Josh,
All mean-looking rides

Russ,
:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Hey i remeber that monte also its hard for me to forget any car with a blower in it

and yes the cops have been real bad but last year i didnt get any tickets but my radar detector was working some overtime LOL

on year my buddy and i both got tickets from some biker cops right before we got into town on friday then later that night we were all in my car and got popped for 5mph over and defective equipment said my exhaust couldnt exit in front of the rear wheels. i contested the 2nd ticket it was almost $500, drove alllllll the way back to longbeach and got it dropped.

im booked for next year already and look forward to seeing some more chevelle freaks LOL

First time I ever went was in 1991...so that is 17 years ago now! It use to be MUCH better! Don't get me wrong...it is still a great show, but it started getting so big. The last year I was there, there was about 2,500 vehicles. Then the imports started showing-up in town and the cops clamped down on the wheelies and burn-outs (probably a good thing, but it sure was fun!). Also...it use to come with a Salmon and Crab feed as part of the show entrance. My hometown is Astoria so me and my friends would just roll across the bridge.

Very sharp looking rides

Erik? your hometown is Astoria did you graduate HS there? I remember back in the day the best part was the cruise people would have coolers for of beer and be dumping water on the ground to get people to do big burnouts! But the cops have clamped down so much that it lost its spirit of being a rod run and now is just a car show without all the fun. Seaside Oregon used to put a nice little show on where they shutdown Broadway and it was a great time.

I went to Knappa, but of course had lots of friends at Astoria High. Yeah...I remember the one year that me and about a dozen friends went there with our beer coolers and all and me and a friend; Jim Varner, were drag racing between the little pockets of people. There were some guys that had pro-street cars that were pulling wheelies...it was GREAT and no one got hurt; but times change!

I haven't been back to Astoria in a few years but I graduated there in 94'

I remember Jim's "Fall Guy" chevy truck... loved that truck, back when he worked at the svc station.
