Ok guys, here it is. The future ground pounding, hardcore, big block powered S-10.

...........Well, everybody has to start somewhere.

This truck has a serious case of teenager mini truck disease. Note the cool chrome foot pedals, the 3" lowering blocks and the custom Krylon two-tone door panels. Not to mention the half chrome / half rust hammer wheels. Tomorrow will consist of getting it started and blown apart. Remember the deal, I have to put the engine out of this truck into another one for the owner of it. Anyway, ..........enjoy!

I was thinking more like three weeks. No promises. Stay tuned.
The last car I built in 3 weeks was about 12 years ago. I took two 914's and made one nice one. I took the 95% rust free stocker '73 with the 1.7 L-Jetronic injection and changed the ugly green paint to red, then took the autocross suspension and Fuchs' wheels off the rusted out '72, put it all on the '73. It wasn't the fastest thing on the road, but you could take corners like a go-kart.  I paid $300 for both cars, and finished the project for under $800. Wish I could find those kinda deals today. I found a bunch of pics of it a couple weeks ago.

Ok, here's the progress from day number one. ......Deconstruction.

It's a good thing I picked up this truck when I did. After I got into it, I discovered it was kid-ized worse than I thought. The wiring harness was cut and spliced everywhere possible, the exhaust was cut off. (I guess for that "hotrod" sound), the bondo work on this is truley frightening. Anyway, I had hoped to get cutting today, but I got a late start. I only worked on it about six hours today. Tomorrow I'm looking to get a full day in. I did verify that the 2.8L runs fairly decent. Anyway, here ya' go..........

Tomorrow I'm going to get into the narrowing of the frame. I needed a jig table. (a big one) So I decided to use my trailer. I still have to build the braces, but tomorrow's another day.............

that looks like my old 79 corvette in your yard there. is it black cherry with 4 speed. owners initials B.M.? -----also pm me for any parts u r looking 4.
It was dark charcoal. I just painted it black. I traded a guy in Nashville, Tn. for my Dodge Ram. The 'Vette's coming along. I should be getting the last of the headlight pieces next week. (It's also an injected '82)

Not to be mean but the more you strip that truck down the better it looks!!...just kiddin!!:hurray::beers:

Sad part is you're right! The kid that had it really did a number on it. Luckily he didn't have many mechanical skills, so he left the basic truck alone. His damage was confined to interior and wiring. Also some body work. I have to find a set of doors somewhere. The ones he "fixed" are beyond repair.

Ok, another productive day. I got the frame narrowed and welded back together. Unfortunately, by the time I got cleaned up, the sun went down so I'll have to post pictures tomorrow of the progress. It turned out perfect on the very first shot. Everything is straight and true. I kinda shocked myself a little. Anyway, I'll post the pics tomorrow. Thanks for following along.

man, you're such a tease, telling us about all this great progress then jerking it awy at the last second by not posting pics, ooohh..! :( :D

Ok, I was going to work a little longer on it today. I got called away in the morning to do a couple tows, and well, about 3:30 PM I finally got back to it. Damn. At least I made $100 bucks today. Anyway, all I managed to do was cut and weld in two gussets. I did throw the wheels up there so you can get an idea of what it'll look like. Now tecnically, it's NOT tubbed. It has the stock suspension and shock mounts. What I did was "pinch the frame rails for clearance". Since I also have to buy axles for the 9 inch, I'm just gonna cut the stock rear down for the time being to get this back on the ground and moving forward again. All the stock stuff will work, the brakes, the E-brake, driveshaft, everything. All I did was take some width out of the truck. Th real fun will start when I mock up the engine up front. Anyway, here's how it looks so far...........

This is how much was taken from the middle of the frame.....

Here's the joint. It has NO flex and I still have to weld in the lower gusset.

Here's the differance between the stock wheels and the ones that are going on it.
