Hey guys i ran the #'s on my motor and found out is a 165 hp 80-85 small block from a c 3500 and a pair of 70's 76cc heads.
Lack luster to say the least, and I need some insight. I'm wanting some Hp! I'm not sure what cp ratio I have, but I'm sure with 76 cc heads it's not good. I'm pretty sure the bottom end is stock but i'm really not sure. I'm wanting somthing very streetable. I should tell you that the only work I've done on the inside of a motor is putting in lifters and adjusting valves. I'm not affraid to try any thing with the right tools, just need to be pointed in the right direction. I want the parts I choose to be matched and efficient, and I'm not looking to spend more than a G. For a little more I can just get a gen 3 and do a swap. Sorry for the long post and I apologize if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it if need be. thanks in advance.

I would go the Gen 3 route, howevever; you can do a cam swap for a couple hundred. You may have to change springs. UDHarold (username here on team chevelle) can help you with a cam selection and all that. After the cam swap I would also add a set of headers, true dual exhaust and some aftermarket performance mufflers, either Flowmaster, Borla or something of the sort. Just my two cents.

first I would call or email Gunner @ patriot heads he has some 57cc chamber angle plug heads in stock and the price is great. next see Cstraub AKA Chris or Wolfplace AKA Mike Lewis or UDHarold AKA Harold for a cam recomendation. I would stick with a flattapet cam as the heads will eat up most of the cash. the heads alone will net somewhere around 2 points of compression and a decent amount of power. Add a cam that is matched to the flow of those heads and you will have a low buck screamer for under a grand. dont forget a stealth or rpm air gap intake and a carb of your choice. just my 2 cents

You didn't say but I'm assuming it's a 350. A cheap route would be to pick up a set of Vortec heads, about $500 a pair, since they are 64cc heads they will also raise your compression a little bit too. Pick up a nice intake to match, shouldn't be to much. And to top it off a mild hydr. flat tappet cam. Cam and lifter kits are pretty cheap, should also do the timing chain while the covers off. For about a grand this will wake up your 350 quite a bit.

Sorry I left out some critical info. It's a 350 i thought to be a thrift master crate motor. Once I ran the #'s i found out the truth. The motor has a weiand intake and a 1406 that is way too rich. I hear they run rich out of the box but this motor is too small for it. My original thought was to just get a pair of votec heads, but i didn't know anything about the way the 80 - 85 blocks were built as far as comp. ratio goes. I figured it wasn't much since the only car worth talking about from those years had a turbo V6. Any way to bolt these heads or any for that matter what clearence checks if any did i have to do to make sure the is no piston/valve contact?
